Grey’s Anatomy 12×16 “When It Hurts So Bad,” brought some friendships back together, and relationships to a close.

At first it looks like Grey’s Anatomy 12×16 “When It Hurts So Bad,” might be all lovey-dovey with Meredith and Will ending their third date with a hot and steamy good night kiss. Except that Will never left, and the rest of the house wakes up to hear Meredith yelling at him to leave the next morning. Maggie assumes the worst right away and forces and him to leave despite his assurances that he didn’t do anything to Meredith.

Once he’s gone, Meredith goes into a cleaning spree like I’ve never seen before. It’s actually kind of funny because she doesn’t even know what cleaners to use so Maggie and Amelia have to help. Meredith is so focused on her own issues that she doesn’t seem to care that Amelia has been crashing at her house. Amelia is avoiding talking about her own issues with Owen so they all go on a cleaning spree together.

Alex shows up to try and find out what happened to Meredith, and brings news that Deluca is covering for him. Only, Deluca had told Maggie he was going to be in surgery all day. Everyone agrees that he’s been flaking out on Maggie lately so she decides to go to the hospital to confront him. Maggie’s upset because he was the one that wanted to go public and he clearly can’t handle it. He says he’s sorry but doesn’t fight for the relationship either.

Owen shows up at Meredith’s house to apologize to Amelia, but she’s also not up for dealing with drama. Even though Amelia knows that Owen is really sorry for what he did, she tells him that she can’t count on it happening again. I’m sure that this was really hard for Amelia because she’s been having a rough time since Derek left without many people to lean on. It’s not clear if these two will ever be able to come together, they both have such complicated pasts. Amelia definitely needs the time to work on herself though so I’m glad to see she’s taking that step.

Meredith calls an end to the cleaning party when she finds an old blanket in the closet and laughs. She explains to Alex that it was Derek’s and she always hated it even though he loved it. What really happened in the morning was that Meredith freaked out to find Will there. Not because he did anything to her, he’s always been amazing. It’s Meredith who isn’t ready to move on yet but she felt like she had to because everyone was pushing for it. It seems like Meredith is still clinging to Derek’s memory like she’s clinging to his blanket now.

Will comes back to see Meredith later and he agrees to back off for a while. He does promise to call her again, though, because he believes that she’s worth waiting for. Even though they might not be having a great romance right now, it might be in the cards for later on. I do really like his character so I hope that it doesn’t take Meredith too long to come around.

One good outcome from the days events is that Meredith invites Amelia to move back into the house. It looks like it’s back to the single sisters living together at the Grey house!

Meanwhile on the Japril front, Catherine comes to visit once she finds out that April is pregnant from Weber. Jackson forbids her to talk to April but of course she does it anyways. Catherine is actually able to get April to open up about everything and assures her that she made the right choices. However, Catherine later reveals to Jackson that she was just trying to work April for information so they could sue her for fraud.

This is pretty cold, even for Catherine, and I hope that they don’t actually do it. Something like that could really tear apart April and Jackson forever. It would be better if he earned her trust. I’m sure that Catherine is just trying to look out for her own family, but at what cost? I can’t imagine that Jackson wants to be fighting April for the rest of his life.

Although the episode felt a bit slower in pace it was nice to see all of the character development. Plus fans got to touch base with many of the relationships in the show. I’m sure there are a lot of shippers very upset with the events but there’s still plenty of time before the finale and lots can change before then.
