Jo may have forgiven Alex, but it looks like she still has some issues to work through on Grey’s Anatomy 12×14 “Odd Man Out.”
There has been a whole lot of tension between Jo and Meredith throughout Grey’s Anatomy season 12. After the death of her husband, Meredith heavily leaned on Alex to get through it all. He was the only one that didn’t give up on her when she left the city, and was there for her as soon as she got back. They became so close, in fact, that many began to wonder if their relationship was strictly platonic. Meredith never looked at Alex as anything other than a friend, but others weren’t so sure.
Alex and Meredith’s close bond even had Jo feeling left out, despite that fact that she understands Alex on a level that no one else ever has before. To be fair, Alex doesn’t make it easy on Jo. He clearly puts Meredith before his relationship because he can see how much she needs someone beside her. It makes him a great friend, but a really awful boyfriend.
It comes to a point where Jo decides to end things with Alex because she doesn’t want to always come second place in his life. At that point, Jo tells Alex that she doesn’t want to ask him to choose between her and his friend. However, in the sneak peek for Grey’s Anatomy 12×14, “Odd Man Out,” Jo and Meredith are forced to work together and things turn confrontational.
At first, Meredith is annoyed that Jo didn’t know what she was referring to when she asked for a scope. Meredith has clearly become used to working with Penny and doesn’t like the extra effort she has to put into working with someone else. Jo completely takes this the wrong way and tells Meredith that she’s in Alex’s life and isn’t going anywhere. Does this mean that Alex will have to make a choice between Jo or Meredith? Fans will have to tune in to find out!
