Everyone kept their guard up on tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy season 12, episode 7. Whose secret was the most dangerous?

With so many things left unsaid in tonight’s episode, it is hard to choose sides in Grey’s Anatomy season 12, episode 7, “Something Against You.” Some doctors had it rough — Penny, Owen — while others are experiencing a silence that can lead to new revelations.

Mr. Jaffrey’s lump

Eighteen months on a transplant list and Mr. Jaffrey is finally in luck! But a lump the size of an orange on his skull prevents him from being a viable candidate. Fortunately, when the doctors remove his “lucky hat,” Mr. Jaffery’s luck does not run out. Wilson and Edwards get to work researching surgeries that may work, but it comes down to an inspirational spark from Penny that kicks off a chain of events. Not only does Mr. Jaffrey get a new kidney, he also gets a new skull from his donor!

April and Jackson’s divorce

Dinner and divorce papers? That is the new dating game that Jackson is hoping to try out with April. Unfortunately, the pumpkin ravioli was too delicious and they never got to have their conversation over desert. Agreeing to reconvene the next night for an actual discussion, let’s assume they wait a bit too long to start up a conversation and got lost on their way to the kitchen.

Bailey’s decision to hire Riggs

Miranda Bailey is distracted by Jackson on her couch and not being able to have time with Ben in her bed. Not only is she making extra pancakes every morning, she is making decisions that affect the entire hospital without consulting anyone. Not only is she having a hard time getting her proposals across, Ben is experiencing an equally hard time pushing Jackson out the door.

Owen’s history with Riggs

Owen is about to explode. Something happened between Riggs and Hunt overseas and it is compounding his already troubling PTSD. We caught a glimpse of it when Owen had trouble sleeping with Cristina next to him, but now it seems to be catching him off guard at work. Whatever Riggs did in the past is not fantastic. While Riggs walks around charming everyone in his path, Meredith stands strong with Owen, no questions asked.

Penny working on Meredith’s service

Another week, another tactic to torture pretty Penny. But this time the blame is not entirely on Meredith. Callie’s loud proposal for change does little to help Penny’s situation. In fact, Penny’s silence is granting her more opportunities in the room, but that can only last for so long. When push comes to scrub (get it?), Penny finally speaks out about Meredith’s lack of teaching tactics and works her way into an OR. Alas, it is with a brain dead patient, but her silence paid off long enough to get her promoted to the kidney transplant team.

Arizona’s trivia night

Arizona is starved for company, both socially and romantically. When trivia night at the local lesbian watering hole presents the perfect opportunity to throw her hat back in the game, she cannot seem to find a wingman or wingwoman. Enter Richard Webber, who wants to flaunt his knowledge of art and history. Arizona, too timid to turn down her boss, takes Richard along before breaking down and letting him know why she is really at the bar. And Richard takes it all in stride! He even offers to bring a nice lady over to the bar for Arizona.

Next week is the winter finale! What do you think is going to happen before Grey’s Anatomy goes on its extended hiatus?
