The Gregory Brothers have returned with a new Songify the News featuring two of America’s sweethearts – Glee’s Darren Criss and Vice President Joe Biden – in an unlikely duet.

The Gregory Brothers, for those not in the know, are a band most famous for their viral auto-tune music videos, especially the Auto-tune The News series – this includes the famous “Bed Intruder” video – as well as their song version of “Double Rainbow.”

Their latest video, “Flying Robots,” features various clips from politicians and pundits about red-button issues, including a pseudo-PSA about gun control by Vice President Joe Biden, with added acoustic guitar accompaniment and harmonies by Darren Criss.

In the video’s information on YouTube, The Gregory Brothers recommend that viewers subscribe to Darren’s theater company, Team StarKid. Working with The Gregory Brothers must have been somewhat of a joy for Darren, who is a long-time fan of the group. In one of his first ever interviews, prior to his Glee casting, Darren admits his extreme fannishness:

My biggest fanboy – that if they were in here I would choke up and cry because I would be so nervous – are the Auto Tune The News people. The Gregory Brothers – phenomenal musicians. Sarah Gregory – I have the biggest crush on. I think she is so beautiful, and she has such a good voice, and they’re all so cool and funny and talented. I just wish I could be half as good as those guys. They’re so good I wanna die – I just wanna die.

Upon the release of Darren’s Songify video, StarKid co-founder Brian Holden tweeted “4 years ago, @DarrenCriss and I spent the summer watching the @gregorybrothers on endless repeat. Now he’s songified.”

Since Team StarKid’s viral rise to fame, The Gregory Brothers have connected and collaborated with the UMich alums on several occasions. StarKid’s first ever live concert performances, in May 2011 on a couple of stops of YouTube’s DigiTour, featured The Gregory Brothers as headliners (watch the StarKids join in onstage for “Double Rainbow”!) and StarKid, in turn, invited The Gregory Brothers to perform with them in New York on the final date of the SPACE Tour.
