Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is joining Team Xtina in the upcoming third season of The Voice.

Armstrong will give feedback to Christina Aguilera’s contestants this fall, the Associated Press reports.

The Voice is “not molding artists, it’s just giving them a little bit of guidance and direction without giving them a complete makeover,” Armstrong, who is a fan of the show, said in a statement to AP.

He joins Michael BubleMary J. Blige and Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas as this year’s advisers.

Kelly Clarkson, Jewel, Lionel Richie, Baby Face, Miranda Lambert, Ne-Yo, Alanis Morissette and Robin Thicke advised contestants last season. Each team had two advisers then. If the trend continues, we expect four more mentors to be announced in the coming weeks.

Green Day is set to release the first part of its upcoming album trilogy, ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tre!, Sept. 25. Listen to “Oh Love!” the album’s first single.
