A Green Arrow pilot is in the works at the CW, but unfortunately for Smallville fans, Justin Hartley (pictured) is not attached to the project.

We’re surprised to see anyone other than Hartley take the roll—he was a series regular, playing Green Arrow, on the CW’s Superman adaptation Smallville for almost five years. It’s unclear whether Hartley wasn’t interested or if the network is trying to avoid the appearance of a Smallville spin-off.

Warner Bros. TV is working on the pilot for the DC Comics adaptation, which is being co-written by Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, both of whom will produce with Andrew Kreisberg (Fringe, The Vampire Diaries), Variety reports. Berlanti and Guggenheim were both attached to the recent Green Lantern film, while Kreisberg has previously worked on the Green Arrow comics.

The original comic, launched in the ’40s, surrounds Oliver Queen, a billionaire politician by day and crime-fighting archery expert superhero (Green Arrow) by night.

Since Hartley is out of the question, who do you think could best fill the Arrow’s signature green suit? Are you looking forward to this adaptation?
