Update (6/7/19): Greek fans flipped back in 2016 when series creator Patrick Sean Smith announced plans for a reunion. So what’s the latest on that reunion movie we’re all waiting for?

Greek executive producer Patrick Sean Smith offered fans a small update on why Greek: The Reunion movie has yet to make its way to Freeform.

Speaking to those in attendance at the series’ reunion panel at the 2019 ATX Television Festival, Smith revealed that a script for the special has already been penned.

“There was a script that was written for the reunion,” Smith told the ATX audience according to Deadline. “I hope we get to do a reunion at some point with somebody who wants to do it.”

Smith didn’t elaborate more on what’s made the project come to a halt, but it sounds as though Greek: The Reunion movie has definitely hit a bit of a snag behind the scenes.

Despite the fact that the question of what’s going on with the reunion didn’t merit the response we were hoping for, Smith didn’t leave fans high and dry.

The creator also let slip a few details with regards to where the reunion script catches up with Casey (Spencer Grammar).

“The one thing I was excited about for Casey’s character that was in the script that I feel like I can talk about is I think should the reunion happen it wouldn’t be a 10 [year reunion], it would be a 15 [year reunion], or further down the road,” continued Smith. “But it was about Casey’s role in politics. It was about her speaking up. It was about her getting active. It was about her not supporting a politician but being a politician and making [a] difference, making a chance. I was really proud about that story line.”

Here’s hoping the Greek reunion finds a home— that’s one storyline we’d love to see come to life!

Original Story (4/7/16):

Freeform (a.k.a. ABC Family) has announced a major Greek reunion that’ll see the stars getting back together for their five-year reunion.

Greek: The Reunion, a TV movie, will air during the holiday season on Freeform. While the network declined to reveal who’s coming back at the presentation where they made the announcement today, most of the major cast members are expected to return. Greek starred Clark Duke, Scott Michael Foster, Spencer Grammer, Paul James, Amber Stevens, Jacob Zachar and Jake McDormand, and ran from 2007 to 2011 on ABC Family.

According to a press release, Greek’s creator Patrick Sean Smith and executive producers Lloyd Segan and Shawn Piller are returning to exec produce the movie.

Greek is all about the ins and outs of the Greek system at Cyprus Rhodes University. Thanks to the Cartwright siblings, Rusty and Casey, you get to see the perspectives of both a pledge, brand new to this world, and a full-fledged sister of one of Cyprus Rhodes’ most influential sororities.

Along the way you’ll meet all the characters that make up their world, including Casey’s boyfriend Evan, her ex Cappie, her best friend Ashleigh, as well as a host of sisters that play a vital role in her life. You also meet Rusty’s redneck roommate Dale, his fellow pledge Calvin, and a host of brothers from both the Kappa Tau and Omega Chi brotherhoods. The Greek system is both a blessing and a curse to Cyprus Rhodes, and this series shows all the ways that going Greek in college can affect your life, some for the better, and some for the worse.

What do you hope to see happen in a ‘Greek’ reunion?
