Netflix original Grace and Frankie is an unexpected, addicting series. Here’s why I can’t wait for season 2 to premiere next month!

Netflix is known for their amazing original series as they’ve been able to go in directions that traditional networks haven’t. Everyone seems to know about Orange Is The New Black and House of Cards but maybe one of their less hyped up series is also one of their best. I quickly fell in love with Grace and Frankie when I discovered it last summer and can’t wait for it to return!

If you haven’t already checked out the series, I suggest you do so immediately. If you’re already a fan, read on to see what I’m expecting and most excited to see when it returns!

Ramifications of Sol and Frankie sleeping together

In the Grace and Frankie season 1 finale fans saw Frankie and Sol seemingly put a real end to their relationship as they packed up their old house together. Except that they have all sorts of emotions from the process of doing it together with their kids and they end up sleeping together.

For Frankie, it shows her just how much she’s grown apart from Sol. It couldn’t have been worse timing for Sol though, as he and Robert have been prepping for their quickly approaching wedding. As Sol was with Frankie, Robert was going through the emotional process of writing his wedding vows. Ouch!

They didn’t actually show Sol telling Robert, so I’m definitely anticipating what will happen when it comes out. Sol and Robert didn’t have a conventional relationship for a long time, so this might not be a deal breaker. Then again, it could, or at least it might have Robert re-thinking them having the wedding so soon after the divorces to their wives. I’m actually rooting for Robert and Sol so I hope that they can work it all out!

Sol and Robert’s wedding

Assuming that they don’t breakup or call of the wedding, I really can’t wait to see Sol and Robert get married. For years they had to hide their love for one another, so seeing them be able to celebrate it out in the open is sure to be amazing. Just hearing their vows as they worked on them was emotional so I would fully expect to shed some tears during the real event.

Beautiful love story aside, weddings always have some sort of hilarious family drama. With Robert and Sol’s very complicated blended family there is sure to be some shenanigans. Plus, Robert and Sol have quite different personalities so I’d be interested to see how it all came together.

Grace and Frankie’s budding business

One of the funnier storylines in Grace and Frankie season 1 was their personal lubricant business. With their lives having been largely defined by their husbands, Grace and Frankie felt quite lost when the relationships ended. Grace immediately wanted to get back to work, which had been her other love before retiring, but her company had been handed over to Brianna. After trying Frankie’s homemade organic personal lubricant made out of yams, Grace realized they had something special. Brianna and the company ended up testing it out and loved it.

This season, it looks like we’ll be seeing the lubricant become an actual product. Although Grace was the driving force behind it getting tested, Frankie looks like she’ll be involved in it’s introduction to the market. Since we’ve never seen this side of Frankie before, I’m not sure what to expect, but quite intrigued how she’ll handle it. It will also give Grace and Frankie more opportunities to grow their relationship, though it could also lead to more arguments between them.

New love interests

Frankie barely dipped her toe in the dating scene last season, while Grace had her first relationship as a newly single woman. However, neither felt anything close to love or the passion that we’d like to see. It’s already been revealed that Grace will be getting a new love interest that will be played by Sam Elliot.

It hasn’t been said yet, but I’d like to see Frankie take on dating too. Separating herself from Sol was very hard for Frankie since they were like best friends. Even though Frankie had been interested in dating her friend that sold the yams she used in her business, Sol still came before him. Seeing Frankie on dates would not only be really fun but I think it could also give her character a lot of confidence.

Grace and Frankie continuing to find themselves

The whole point of Grace and Frankie is to follow these to very different woman as they go through this journey of rediscovery. I feel like we barely touched the surface of this in the first season because there was a lot they had to go through before they could even begin to think about who they wanted to be. Now that they’ve both come to the point where they’ve accepted the end of their relationships with Sol and Robert, they can really begin their new lives.

They’ll also have to continue to learn how to navigate their new family once Robert and Sol make things official. It’s also been teased that they’ll have to deal with people starting to treat them differently because of their age. There’s definitely still a lot for Grace and Frankie continue to learn about themselves.

Girls night out

I have to say that my favorite episode last season was Grace and Frankie 1×12 “The Bachelor Party,” in which Grace promises to do anything to cheer up Frankie. They end up dressing each other up for a night out and go to a bar that Frankie used to love. Except that it’s not what she remembers, however they’re still able to have fun. After drinks and dancing on the bar they head home for the night, but what’s most touching is seeing how the two are able to lean on one another when they need help.

I’m hoping that we’ll get to see a similar night where Grace and Frankie just want to have fun with each other. Not only is it entertaining for fans to watch, but it also allows for their friendship to grow and the characters to develop.

‘Grace and Frankie’ season 2 premieres May 6 on Netflix!
