Despite the original song hitting No.1 the week that Glee aired their version of “Somebody That I Used To Know,” Gotye, the original artist, wasn’t so impressed with how it turned out.
According to THR, who ran the story, Gotye found the song to be “dinky and wrong.”
“They did such a faithful arrangement of the instrumentals but the vocals were that pop Glee style, ultra-dry, sounded pretty tuned and the rock has no real sense,” he told the Sunday Mail, “like it’s playing to you from a cardboard box.”
Ouch. That’s kind of harsh.
