The Gotham season 3 finale may be its best story telling yet! Here’s a breakdown of the best moments from the two-hour finale.

Part 1:

Mooney takes Strange:

Dr. Strange isn’t a free man for very long. When he tries to flee the city he’s quickly stopped by Fish Mooney. She still wants the army he promised her and now she’s interested in the virus that’s infecting the city.

Penguin’s revenge:

There’s nothing sweeter than seeing one of your favorite characters get their justice. In the Gotham season 3 finale Penguin finally gets his revenge on Strange for all the torture he received in Arkham. In order to get information out of Strange, Penguin uses the exact “therapy” machine that Strange used on Penguin.

Lee sends a message:

Lee may be infected with the virus and be totally insane right now, but it’s pretty entertaining to watch. She’s lost all of her morals and isn’t afraid to show everyone who’s boss right now. That includes sending a message to Barbara, presumably a jealousy thing, and roughing up Butch in the process.

Mooney dies in Penguin’s arms:

Mooney has had quite the arc on Gotham, but it looks like it’s finally come to an end. While in a rage, Gordon accidentally stabs Mooney. Having just made up with her, and looking forward to teaming up, Penguin was devastated to see her die. It was super emotional and reminded me of when Penguin’s mother died in his arms. R.I.P. Mooney.

Ra’s al Ghul revealed:

After much hype, Ra’s al Ghul has finally been revealed. He’s the man behind the Court of Owl’s and wants to complete Bruce’s training. Their interaction isn’t very long but with his insistence that Bruce is his successor it’s clear that the villain will have a huge impact going forward.

Bruce stabs Alfred:

To complete his training Ra’s al Ghul commands Bruce to kill Alfred. For a moment it looks like Bruce wont’ do it. But then he does! Luckily, he is able to shake out of the conditioning. And when the second part of the finale starts up Bruce saves Alfred by stopping the bleeding.

Part 2:

Jim & Lee:

This made it into my top moments because hot damn, I forgot how hot these two are when they’re together! It’s been a while since the show has allowed Jim & Lee’s chemistry to play out on the screen, as they’ve been at odds since they broke up. This heated moment between the two exes was a reminder of just how great they used to be. Even if it took them becoming monsters to show it again.

Penguin’s master plan:

After all the ups and downs with Penguin this season, it was really satisfying to see him get the upper hand over Nygma. Usually, Nygma is able to outsmart everyone around him. But Penguin used his knowledge of the man to predict his moves and it worked out in his favor. It would have broken my heart to see Penguin lose to Nygma again. Hopefully, this means Penguin is back to his old self.

Barbara dies and is possibly becoming Harley Quinn?:

As they say, no one really ever dies in Gotham. So what does that mean for Barbara Kean who dies after being electrocuted by Tabitha? Hopefully she’ll be transforming into Harley Quinn. It’s long been a theory that she was on the journey to becoming Harley Quinn but it’s really not clear if that will be the case. It would be great to see that happen, but fans won’t know Babs fate until next season.

Selina’s becoming Catwoman:

This transformation is way more obvious. Selina is tired of just being a low life criminal and turns to Tabitha for help. She wants to step up in the world and it looks like Tabitha is going to show her the way. Upon seeing Selina’s interest in her whip, she has her give it a try. And what do you know, Selina hits the target on the first try.

Cyrus Gold:

Butch got killed by Barbara, but it looks like he’s actually not dead. And apparently he’s going to become the super villain Cyrus Gold. I guess the new rule in Gotham is that everyone is actually someone else?

Bruce the vigilante:

Bruce may have broken his conditioning but that doesn’t mean he’s going to waste the training. He’s ready to save the city he loves, but he’s going to do it his way. Dressed up in all black, Bruce saves a family from being killed by a robber. He really looks like Batman as he gazes out in the city lights, the protector hidden by shadows.
