Gordon figured out who has Alice’s virus on Gotham season 3, episode 11, “Beware the Green-Eyed Monster,” and he just had to convince everyone else he was right.

‘Gotham’ season 3, episode 11 recap:

Gordon:

The wedding day has finally arrived, but Mario is a bit pre-occupied trying to get more information on the virus that has taken over his body and mind. Knowing that the Gotham Bio Lab has made headway on their research, Mario kills one of the hematologist for his key card.

Instead of taking the day off like Bullock wants, Gordon comes into work and takes on the case of the hematologist. His first thought is that the man was killed by Barnes, however he’s already in Arkham. Gordon isn’t far off though, as he quickly finds out that the man works at the lab where Alice’s blood is being studied.

Gordon goes to the to the lab to talk to his colleagues and is surprised to find that his card is currently logged in. After racing back to the lab, Gordon is hit in the back of the head by Mario and thrown through a glass window. He never sets his eyes on Mario, but a clue is left behind on his hand.

When Gordon wakes up, he finds that “Arkham” has been written on his hand. So he goes there to talk to Jervis, believing that he knows who has the virus. Just as he suspected, Jervis admits that this is part of his game to toy with Gordon. Angered by Gordon, Jervis accidentally lets it slip that Gordon’s love will be killed by the one infected and that he’ll go from hero to killer. Mario immediately comes to Gordon’s mind and he calls the GCPD to bring him in.

Bullock is not happy to hear that Gordon had Mario brought in without any proof. One thing that’s not adding up is why Mario would want to be found. However, they have him tested anyways and Gordon is confused to find that he passes. Instead of accepting the results, Gordon says that Mario must have used information from the lab to figure out how to pass the test.

Trying to warn Lee, Gordon goes to her house after she doesn’t answer her phone. But when he gets there it’s Mario that greets him. Gordon has it all figured out, except how Mario passed the test. He believes that Jervis gave Mario the virus the same night that he drugged Gordon, and that jealousy is what the virus is bringing out in him.

What Gordon didn’t figure out, was that Mario was going to use his status as Falcone’s son to get his way. Victor is there to keep Gordon hostage while Mario leaves to get to the wedding. His orders are to keep Gordon just long enough so that he barely has time to get to the church.

At the church, Lee isn’t surprised when Gordon comes to stop them. Mario already warned her that Gordon thinks he has the virus, but he also told her that he passed the test. Lee thinks that Jervis planted all the ideas in Gordon’s head. It’s then that Gordon realizes why Mario wanted him on his trail, so that Gordon would like the jealous ex and make Lee hate him.

Realizing that logic won’t work this time, Gordon tries to convince Lee with the heart. So he admits that he still loves her, and that he did go to visit her after he got out prison but saw she was with Mario. It’s his biggest regret but it’s not enough to stop Lee.

Instead, Lee asks Falcone to get Gordon to leave. To make sure that Gordon is taught a lesson he has his men beat him while Lee marries Mario. Meanwhile, Lucius lets Bullock know that he thinks he figured out how Mario passed the test. It doesn’t prove that he has the virus, but it’s enough to make it look like he has something to hide.

Even though the whole GCPD is after Mario now, he’s already left the city with Lee and they don’t know where they went. Knowing that Falcone must have the information they need, Gordon barges into his office. He’s shocked to learn that Falcone knew that something was up with Mario, and he still won’t tell Gordon where he is. Instead he wants to send his own men after Mario, but Gordon doesn’t trust them.

At the cabin, the virus has taken over Mario’s mind and all he can think about it that Lee still loves Gordon. With a knife in hand, he stalks upon Lee until Gordon runs in and shoots him just in time. Too bad Lee didn’t see what was about to happen and the knife that Mario held was dropped into the water below.

Bruce:

The Whisper Gang brings the bad news to Bruce that Luka Volk was killed by the Court of Owls. Bruce worries that this means that Court may already know Bruce is breaking their deal. They decide that the only way forward is to continue on with their plan to get into their vault and find out whatever it is they’re protecting so much.

While checking out the building, Bruce and Alfred decide that they need to break into the building that same day. If they wait any longer the Court could have more time to strike. Selina has a bad feeling about it though and believes that someone was watching them outside of the building.

Before leaving to go break into the Court of Owl’s building, Bruce worries that the Whisper Gang will turn on them and try to take the item themselves. What he doesn’t know is that the Gang has already been killed by the Court.

When the Whisper Gang doesn’t show to help the break in, Selina steps in to help. Bruce still won’t give up the subject of whether or not Selina is his girlfriend, even with all the danger around them.

To distract the guards, Alfred drives up and acts like’s passed out in the car. When the guards go to check on him, he knocks them out while Bruce and Selina sneak in. Using a crossbow to create a rope for Selina to walk across, they get across the room that has alarms all over the floor.

Selina is surprised to find that the safe only has a large crystal Owl in it. Before she can get back across though, they’re attacked by the Court’s assassin. He nearly succeeds in killing them, but at the last moment a mysterious woman comes to their rescue. She reveals herself to be Selina’s missing mother but they have to escape quickly before any explanations are given.

Nygma:

Barbara stops in at Penguin’s manor to speak with Nygma, she’s surprised that he’s working instead of trying to find the killer. Though Nygma says he has his spies working on it, Barbara hints that the answer is right under his nose and even fake coughs Penguin’s name. Despite Nygma thinking that’s ridiculous, Barbara slips the thought into his head that Penguin had the motive of love.

Nygma tries to turn in his letter of resignation, but Penguin will not accept it. He insists that it is not in Nygma’s best interest. So Nygma explains that he wants to be more than friends, but when Penguin professes his love, Nygma says he meant that he wanted to become business partners. It’s obvious that he was purposely trying to trick Penguin, but wasn’t expecting to hear that Penguin really is in love with him.

It looks like Penguin and Nygma’s relationship is damaged forever, as Nygma imagines what it would be like to plunge a knife into Penguin’s back while they’re out in public. Instead of actually killing him, they hug it out and say they’re each others best friends. It sounds like a good bye for Nygma though.

Tabitha is back at home and recovering when Nygma goes to see them. Even though she and Butch want to kill him, Barbara asks them to hear Nygma out. He wants to destroy Penguin and Barbara explains to them that Penguin was the one that killed Isabella. Barbara thinks that she can take over as the mob boss, while Nygma becomes the brains of the operation, with Butch and Tabitha as their power.
