Gotham season 2 doesn’t return until February, but there’s still a lot to look forward to in the meantime!

So much has happened in Gotham season 2 that it’s hard to believe we’re only halfway through the season. There’s still so much more to come, including new characters, and others will be returning.

Some storylines seemed to be wrapped up before the mid-season finale, but it was clear that others were just getting started. Bruce now has a lot more information on his parent’s killer, Penguin seems poised to take back power, lots of new baddies are about to hit the city, and Gordon’s life is on a new path.

Mini O.C. reunion

It was recently revealed that Ben McKenzie’s former O.C. cast mate Melinda Clarke would be joining Gotham in a recurring role. According to E! Online, Clarke will be playing a character named Grace Van Dahl, who is described as “attractive and cultured.” Her character is original to the series and plays the role of hostess and wife during the day, and killer by night. Grace is just another citizen of Gotham looking to get more power and money!

Clarke will first appear as Grace in Gotham season 2, episode 15, which should air in March 2016.

Meeting Penguin’s Dad

Even though Penguin’s mother was killed during the first half of Gotham season 2, fans will get to meet his father in the second half. Paul Reubens, best known for playing Pee-wee Herman, will appear as Penguin’s father. This will actually be the second time Reubens has played Penguin’s father, the first time being in Batman Returns. No word yet on when the appearance will be or what it will entail. It should definitely be interesting to see how Penguin takes it considering how deeply he was hurt by his mother’s murder.

Bruce hunting down Malone

In Gotham season 2, episode 10, Bruce and Selina tricked Silver into giving up the name of the man that killed Bruce’s parents. According to Silver, it was a man named M. Malone. It was reported by ComicBook.com that Fox has already cast Breaking Bad alumnus Michael Bowen to play Malone. His character description tells us, “One of Gotham’s deadliest killers, Matches Malone is a weathered, philosophical hitman who may be the triggerman behind one of the most important crimes in Gotham’s history.” Malone is a character from the DC Comics, and it seems like the TV character will be very loosely based on him.

Indian Hill

The first half of the season kept teasing us back to some very creepy things going on at Indian Hill. Barely alive and very dead characters were all being brought there, while others seemed to be undergoing experimentation. When Gotham returns, fans will get to meet the man behind Indian Hill. Hugo Strange, played by BD Wong, will be introduced as a genius who is secretly preforming experiments at the underground Indian Hill Laboratory. According to USA Today, he also works at Arkham Asylum as a psychiatrist.

It looks like Strange’s victims will include Firefly, Galavan, possibly Barbara, and if we’re really lucky, Jerome.

Mr. Freeze

At the very end of the Gotham mid-season finale, fans were shown a brief tease of Mr. Freeze. Nathan Darrow is playing the role of Victor Fries (a.k.a Mr. Freeze) and Kristen Hager (who we haven’t seen yet) will be playing the terminally ill wife of Victor. Executive Producer Bruno Heller told TV Line, “He absolutely has an agenda. We’re telling the Freeze story in classic style, from its origins. What you saw there is the ‘beta test.’ It’s very early on in the story of Mr. Freeze.”

We’re guessing Victor will be abducting and freezing the citizens of Gotham in an attempt to experiment and find a way to save his wife. Obviously, it will lead him down a very dark path.

Leslie’s pregnancy

Leslie dropped a bomb on Gordon in the mid-season finale when she revealed that she was pregnant. It was almost enough for him to leave town and all their troubles behind, until he learned that Bruce was in trouble. Gordon did seem to wrap up the problems that Galavan was causing, but we can’t help but wonder what else will happen during Leslie’s pregnancy? It’s no secret that Gordon has enemies, so of course they could use Leslie and the child against him.

It should also be interesting to see how Barbara plays into it. Clearly she still has her eyes on Gordon, so it will be a huge blow to her to find out that he’s having a child with Leslie. Will it mean she can finally move on or will it only make her more determined to take Leslie out of the picture?
