Gotham season 2 finale “Transference,” gave us even more conspiracies and villains to look forward to next year!

The GCPD shows up ready to storm down the gates of Arkham to save Gordon, Bruce, and Lucius. Naturally they’re shocked when Gordon walks out and says that everything is fine, but of course they don’t know it’s not really him. When they get back to the station, Bullock finds Gordon’s explanation weird.

With the GCPD off his back, Strange prepares to have Indian Hill destroyed with a bomb per his employer’s orders. Before they set it off though, Nygma and Strange try to get to the truth. They discover that Gordon, Bruce, and Lucius all know that Wayne Enterprises is running Indian Hill but they don’t know who is really behind Wayne Enterprises. Strange also lets Gordon know there is a secret council, thinking that he will be dead before the end of the day anyways.

Nymga is hopeful that since he’s shown how useful he can be, Strange will trust him, but instead he gets locked back up. Strange himself is upset that his employers at the council still want him to destroy Indian Hill even though Bruce and Gordon didn’t know the truth so couldn’t have exposed them to anyone else. Meanwhile, Selina is brought to Bruce and tells him that a bomb is going to blow the place down in about an hour.

After escorting all of the other patients out of Indian Hill, Ms. Peabody goes to see Mooney with sedation. Of course, Mooney is easily able to control Ms. Peabody into releasing her. Strange tries to stop Mooney but is so scared of her that he runs away and sets off the bomb’s timer ahead of time which also locks everyone in.

Penguin, Butch, and Barbara seem to have started a friendship. As Butch and Barbara offer their advice on where Peguin should keep his former step mother’s head, they over hear the news talking about Arkham. So Barbara heads down to the GCPD and asks for Gordon. As soon as he starts hitting on her and says he doesn’t care about Lee she knows it’s not really him. Everyone is shocked when a slap to the face messes up the false Gordon’s face. While the GCPD gets ready to head back to Arkham, she calls Penguin and gives him the heads up.

Despite having set the timer on the bomb early, Strange still wants to try and escape with some of his experiments. When Selina doesn’t want to leave Bruce, Strange asks Mr. Freeze to kill her but Firefly doesn’t approve. As Firefly and Freeze fight, Selina slips away to let Bruce, Gordon, and Lucius out. They get out in time to see Strange get caught between his experiments and nearly die, but Gordon is able to bring him back. Strange warns him that they need to leave before the place blows but Gordon wants to stop the bomb and save everyone.

Since Strange refuses to tell them how to get back to Indian Hill, because it will mean Mooney’s escape, Selina suggests Nygma shows them how to get down. Nygma still has no idea what’s really going down but agrees to help Gordon so that he can live. But once Gordon and Lucius get down there, they have no idea what to do. When Ms. Peabody says, “water” they decide to pour some on the bomb – and it works! Then they realize she was just asking for help.

When Bullock and the GCPD arrive they take Strange into custody and Gordon warns them about the experiments on the loose. Gordon knows they must be really bad because Strange risked killing half of Gotham so they couldn’t leave Indian Hill. Now, Mooney is taking a bus full of them right into the heart of the city. The cops aren’t able to stop her, but Butch and Penguin are.

Thinking that Strange is on the bus from Arkham, Butch shoots it down, When Penguin goes near it asking for Strange, he’s shocked when Mooney walks out. So much so that he passes out when she touches him, and Butch just runs away. Mooney abandons the rest in the back to make her own escape, but luckily for them a little old lady lets them loose.

Of course they have to tease fans by not really giving a good look at everyone leaving, but a tell tale laugh can definitely be heard. As well as a look-alike Bruce with long hair that thanks the old lady for helping them. This must mean that the council was hoping to kill Bruce and replace him with this other version they had control over. What will happen now that these experiments are on the loose? I can’t wait to find out next season!
