As if Gotham season 2 couldn’t get any better, Michelle Veintimilla has been cast to play the villain Firefly!
If you’re scratching your heads at this headline, yes Gotham is adding a twist to its version of Firefly. In the comics, Firefly is typically depicted as a male, but in the television series we can look forward to another female villain.
Firefly, whose civilian name will be Bridgit Pike, will first appear in the fifth and sixth episodes of Gotham season 2 according to TV Line.
The character description tells us that Bridgit Pike is forced into the family business of arsonists by her brothers, who have enslaved her. Lucky for Bridgit, she catches the attention of Selina Kyle, who is well on her way to becoming Cat Woman.
Bridgit teams up with Selina, and starts her journey to becoming Firefly by putting her fire starting skills to good use. But, “after a deadly encounter with the Pike Brothers, the meek Cinderella is transformed into a vengeful super villain, hell bent on destroying those who have wronged her.”
Recently, Gotham also cast Leo Fitzpatrick to play Joe Pike, the leader of the Pike Brothers.
