Bruce is upset to learn that Reggie is dead, but Selina reasons out that he was a threat. Despite his feelings, Bruce still wants Selina’s help in figuring out who exactly hired him.
Freaked out about the Ogre, Gordon wants to find Leslie. He makes the mistake of going into her apartment without announcement and getting smacked in the head with her phone. He fills her in on why he’s worried, but she urges him to keep going anyways. The moment allows Gordon to share the big “I love you,” pronouncement.
Meanwhile, somewhere in a bar Barbara is with the Ogre. They go back to her apartment where he’s surprised to learn that she doesn’t have a boyfriend. He’s interested to hear that she’s used to people leaving once they learn the real her.
Bullock and Gordon speak with a detective who worked on the Ogre case. They want to know if he found an important piece of evidence. He recalls finding out where she worked.
While out they notice a car that was following them, but can’t catch the plate number before it drives away. The Ogre calls Gordon and warns him to stop the investigation.
When Nygma goes to get some evidence from Kristen, he’s disturbed to find her bruised. She admits it was from her boyfriend but says he didn’t mean it. So Nygma confronts him and promises not to let her get hurt again. He keeps his promise by stabbing the boyfriend on his way to Kristen’s.
To get closer to the board members, Bruce decides to attend the Wayne Enterprises Ball. Alfred is happy to hear that Selina will be going with him. Luckily, Selina has the help of Barbara to get dolled up and even surprises Bruce.
Following the lead from the first murder victim’s work place, they find the Ogre’s father trying to kill himself. He doesn’t believe that his son is a serial killer. His reasoning is that his son was born with a facial defect and can’t seduce woman. But that’s why the Ogre got surgery to correct his looks.
The Ogre shows up at the ball and tells Barbara that he had to pay $10k to get on the invite list. It seems to impress her and he apologizes for how their night ended. He even opens up to her about being told he would never be loved.
Gordon finally realizes he needs to check on Barbara but only finds Selina at the apartment. She tells him that Barbara left the ball with a guy, and it matches the sketch the plastic surgeon gave him.
At the Ogre’s apartment Barbara checks out the room where he kills his victims.
