There’s a mystery at the circus and Leslie gets her hands in crime solving on Gotham season 1, episode 16, “The Blind Fortune Teller.” Find out what happened with our recap!

Barbara is finally back, but too bad Ivy and Selina have made themselves at home. She just wants to know where Gordon is, and is clearly on some kind of bend. She doesn’t kick the girls out even when they inform her that Gordon dropped off his keys a week ago.

At the circus, Gordon is enjoying time with his new lady Leslie. The Flying Graysons preform a seamless act, only to have it ruined by a drunken clown. Now Gordon is in cop mode, but he can’t get a straight answer out of any of the performers. Leslie has more luck with John Grayson and Mary Lloyd. And Gordon is impressed with her work.

When Gordon and Leslie go looking for Lila the snake dancer, they can only find her son Jerome. Although the ringmaster thinks everything is fine, Jerome is worried about his mother’s safety. Gordon decides to let Lila’s snake find its master. Sure enough, the snake finds Lila where she’s been left dead in an apparent murder.

The ringmaster comes clean that she had been moved and shows Gordon where they found her. All the circus performers are brought in for questioning.

After examining the body, Leslie and Nygma find that she was killed by a hatchet with blows to her upper body, but it was done at a time that both of her lovers were preforming in the ring.

The circus’ psychic comes to visit Gordon and tells him that Lila sent him a message from the other side. She told the psychic, “The servant of the devil lies in the garden of the iron sisters.”

At dinner, Leslie has a revelation that the iron sisters refers to a famous bridge and the garden located nearby. Even though Gordon still thinks it doesn’t make sense, he agrees to go with her to check it out. While arguing about the decision to go out there, Gordon finds the murder weapon.

Gordon isn’t happy that Leslie was right and wants her to go back home. But Leslie doesn’t take his nonsense and points out he’s being a hypocrite for saying that he wants a strong woman and then trying to make her stay home. So Leslie gets to stay and work on the case with him! You go girl!

Trying to get to the truth, Gordon had the psychic brought in. He thinks that the weapon was planted to throw them off the trail and that the psychic is protecting someone. Jerome joins them and Gordon accuses him of being the killer.

It comes out that the psychic is Jerome’s real father. And Jerome’s real personality filters through as he laughs about his mother being a whore. He says that he killed his mother because she kept pushing him, but finds the whole situation hilarious and can’t stop laughing.

After it all, Leslie tells Gordon she found it all thrilling. As they celebrate finishing the case with a kiss, Barbara walks in to see them and leaves, horrified, before she’s noticed.

The club still isn’t doing so well under Penguin’s care, especially since his mother is taking advantage of using the stage. When someone tries to boo her off the stage, things get ugly. Victor comes to pay Penguin a visit and says that Falcone isn’t happy. He’s brought Butch back, and they want him to help out the club. After some reluctance, Penguin is glad to see he can control Butch.

Over at the dungeon, conditions are getting worse as the prisoners are being used as organ donors. Mooney wants to plan a revolt but is honest and tells them she can’t save everyone. When their captors come looking for inmates, Mooney tells them she needs to talk to them. She agrees to let them take the inmate if they trade for food and water. When he refuses, Mooney has the inmate beaten to death. The manager agrees to see Mooney about her requests.

Bruce gets ready to meet with the board members about Arkham, but Alfred still thinks it’s a bad idea. He’s worried about Bruce’s safety, as always. When Bruce starts questioning the board on the actions of the company, it’s clear he surprises them. He wants any corruption removed from the company and threatens legal action if the board doesn’t heed his warning.

John and Mary stop by to see Gordon and thank him, as well as announce their engagement. It also gives Bullock the chance to tease Gordon about spending the night with Leslie.
