Gordon is reassigned to Arkahm Asylum and is off to a rocky start on Gotham season 1, episode 11, “Rogues’ Gallery.” Read our recap here!

The Tempest

On a dark and stormy night, a lovely play is taking place at Arkham Asylum. But things take a turn when an inmate gets violent and Gordon has to break things up. Director Lang is none to pleased to find out that someone was injured on Gordon’s watch.

Dr. Leslie Thompkins comes to check out the injured inmate and is impressed with the stories she’s heard about Gordon. There’s also all kinds of chemistry between Dr. Thompkins and Gordon.

Selina finds a sick Ivy laying in the alley, but she refuses to go see a doctor, so Selina decides to take matters in her own hands and tells here she has a place they can stay. Barbara’s place has been deserted for quite some time and Selina decides it’s a good place to stay. So they make themselves at home.

Over at the docks, Oswald decides to try to raise the taxes on the fishermen, but they want to talk to Maroni and call the cops on Oswald. Although he doesn’t think he can get taken in, he does. Maroni is not happy when he picks up Oswald from the police station. He tells Oswald that he has too much hubris and needs to watch himself.

Sinister Deeds

The morning after the play fallout, Gordon finds the inmate who interrupted the play, Frog Man, responseless in his room. Dr. Thompkins finds that he’d undergone crude electroshock therapy. Naturally, Director Lang blames Gordon and doesn’t want to call the GCPD even though Frog Man is brain dead.

Mooney has a meeting with some allies. She wants to see what they think about Falcone’s recent decisions. They agree that Falcone is losing his ways but don’t see Mooney as taking his place. Butch volunteers to talk to Saviano to try to get him to see Mooney’s way.

Butch meets Saviano by the bay to talk old times and the future, but he’s not there to talk Saviano into taking a step down. It looks like they’re on the same side and Saviano thinks Mooney is doomed if she tries to take over. Saviano offers to give Mooney’s clubs to Butch if he helps him.

When they meet again, Butch tells Saviano that he’s on board with the plan. But after reminiscing about a time he robbed with Saviano but kept shares for himself, he laments that they’re not really like brothers. Which must be why Butch doesn’t feel bad shooting Saviano.

Gordon starts questioning patients to try to find out who took the keys to the cells, but doesn’t find anything useful. Another victim undergoes the shock therapy and Gordon finds him unable to say anything other than his lines from the play. Gordon tells Dr. Thompkins he thinks someone in the staff is responsible and that she should stay in the woman’s ward for a while where it’s safer.

Don’t you know that you’re toxic?

Montoya tells Barbara that they need to be apart because they’re toxic together. She doesn’t want to fall back into the habit of drinking and drugs. Montoya thinks that Barbara needs Gordon’s help. But when Barbara tries calling Gordon at her place, Ivy picks up the phone and pretends to be someone he’s seeing.

Deciding that things are getting out of hand, Gordon calls Bullock in to investigate. When he meets resistance from Director Lang, Bullock takes him to the station for questioning.

The basement is closed off, according to nurse Dorothy, but Gordon wants to check it out. So she shows him how to get down there, but when Dr. Thompkins shows up, Gordon gets a weird feeling and tells her to go home.

Dorothy shoves Dr. Thompkins and lets everyone out of their cells. Gordon tells Dr. Thompkins to get out, but she’s not fast enough and is soon being chased by a stampede. The inmates run over Dorothy in their excitement. Gordon shows up just in time to save Dr. Thompkins.

It’s believed that Dorothy was behind the shock therapy, so Gordon and Bullock celebrate a case closed. Until her autopsy reveals Dorothy had gone under shock therapy herself about a month prior. Back at the asylum Gruber kills Director Lang and leaves a note for Gordon. He takes his shocked inmate and flees, but this won’t be the last time we see him.
