So far Gotham has been able to feature many notorious characters in the first season. But showrunner Bruno Heller is revealing that one you might not expect will make an appearance!

Gotham is mainly focusing on Jim Gordon’s story as he works his way through the corrupt Gotham City Police Department. But it has also been able to feature young Bruce Wayne as he deals with his parents’ death and begins to learn the skills need to become Batman later on.

Because Bruce is so young, fans probably haven’t even thought about the possibility of Robin appearing on Gotham, but according to showrunner Bruno Heller, that is about to happen.

“We’re going to do a prenatal origin story for Robin down the line,” he divulged in a recent interview. “There’s an episode coming up where we learn how Robin’s parents got together.” Okay, so we won’t actually be seeing Robin just yet. But fans will get a hint of his story just to tie everything together.

He also revealed that a young version of the villain Scarecrow will appear later in the season. Fans will get to see how his character started to develop from childhood and it will involve his father. Poison Ivy will be making a return as well.

One character who will not be appearing this season is Harley Quinn. And we’re pretty sad about it. Heller explains that, “Which characters to use and when — is a source of constant discussion. And that may well have been an issue that came up and was dropped. We haven’t got Harley Quinn in it. Riddler’s girlfriend is coming up. And Harley Quinn is definitely planned for later on, but so far no.”

They are also planning on eventually bringing The Joker into play, because how could they not. But don’t expect the show to come out right away about who it will be. Instead, they want to tease the audience with different characters who could be The Joker.

What do you think of the plan to show Robin’s story on ‘Gotham’?
