Fans have been waiting to see Nygma transform into The Riddler on Gotham, but now that he’s done something terrible to Gordon how do they feel about him?

Let be real, Nygma kind of freaked me out last night. Up until that point, he’d been pretty dorky and kind of adorable — obsession with Kristen Kringle aside. He was obviously bright and wasn’t being used to his full potential. The he slowly started changing. It began with when he confronted officer Dougherty about the way he was treating Kristen. Nygma had only meant to tell him off, but the confrontation got physical and Nygma ended up stabbing Dougherty in self defense.

Nygma ditched the body, never got caught, and went back to normal. Then he started dating Kristen and things took a turn for the worse. His split personality began to take over more and more, the sweet Nygma turned more sinister. When Nygma tried to come clean to Kristen about everything she freaked out and he ended up killing her — this also wasn’t really intentional, but he still choked her to death with his bare hands. His obvious sorrow about it kind of made up for the fact that he had killed again.

Then his split personalities joined together and Nygma became much more like the villain The Riddler. No longer did he hesitate to stand up for himself and he fully embraced the life of crime, even taking in Penguin to learn from him.

In Gotham 2×15, “Mad Grey Dawn,” fans got to see how Nygma took care of Gordon, who had begun to look into Kristen’s disappearance. Even though he’s embracing the new lifestyle, Nygma isn’t ready to be known for his crimes just yet. He most cleverly designed a plan which had Gordon hunting down a criminal but allowed Nygma to make the GCPD internal affairs reopen the case of Galavan’s death.

Without anyone realizing it, Nygma called in an anonymous tip about the murder, got Gordon to touch a crowbar, then used it to kill another GCPD officer and frame Gordon for it, all while making it appear that the officer was the one that had called in the tip about Gordon. Now it looks like Gordon is going to rot in jail unless he can prove that he was framed.

So what did other Nygma fans think of his new side? Lets examine social media:

It seems like the Gotham fandom is pretty torn on how to feel about the situation. Some are in awe, some are worried, and others just think Nygma is being a BAMF. If Gordon ends up getting out of jail pretty quickly, Nygma will probably be forgiven just as quickly. Let us not forget that he’s on his way to becoming a villain so we can only expect much worse to come.
