Barbara Kean is heading home on Gotham but don’t expect to see a warm welcome here.

On Gotham season 1, episode 12, “What The Little Bird Told Him,” Barbara Kean seems to have run out of places to hide. After being kicked out of Montoya’s place and believing Gordon has moved on, she decides to turn to her family. But from the start she gets a cold shoulder.

Looking very worn down, Barbara sits down with her clearly uptight parents. Giving fans a glimpse into the background that shaped the person she is today. Although her mother and father are all formalities and agree to let her stay, it’s obvious they can’t wait for her to leave.

It give us chills to see just how withdrawn Barbara becomes around her family and sitting stiffly under their judgmental eye. She keeps her lips locked on the situation that brought her to their door step. When her mother asks about Gordon, Barbara only says that he’s well and they are very happy.

Fans who have been complaining about Barbara’s lacking storyline are sure to appreciate this scene. Not only does it show a different side of Barbara, but it gives fans a look into who she really is. Underneath that exterior show of confidence she’s a girl who only craved acceptance from her parents. Could this strained relationship with them also be the cause of her underlying drug problem?

Barbara may have returned home for help but could her visit just further her downward spiral? With Gordon hunting down Jack Gruber will he have time to for Barbara? Fans will have to tune into the episode to find out!
