HBO has released a second trailer for Game of Thrones season 7, and it’s just as epic as the last one we saw.

Fight every battle, always. HBO decided to release the new GOT trailer on the Summer Solstice. On social media they’re reminding us that “it may be the first day of summer, but #WinterIsHere.” Clever!

The Game of Thrones season 7 trailer focuses on long-awaited collisions, both violent and — maybe, maybe, maybe — productive. The bonds of family, loyalty, and brutal strain against the fresh wars spreading across Westeros, and of course, the battle for humanity itself.

The trailer opens with Littlefinger’s words echoing in Sansa’s ears, warning her to fight the looming battle with her mind. More Starks quickly fill the picture, as Jon returns to the frozen Wall and Arya makes her way North.

In tandem with Northern tensions, the Game of Thrones season 7 trailer shows Daenerys exerting her will on Dragonstone and beyond — and perhaps learning a thing or two about Targaryen history while she’s at it. A voice over from Jon suggests that he and Dany may come face to face before long.

“For centuries, our families fought together against their common enemy, despite their differences, together. We need to do the same if we’re going to survive,” he says. “Because the enemy is real. It’s always been real. ”

From there, the new Game of Thrones season 7 trailer shatters into thrilling fragments of barely-seen story. Ravens fly, seeming to catch the attention of the Night’s King. Bran sits pensively in a wheelchair. Lord Beric Dondarrion sets his flaming sword alight once more, as Ironborn ships bear down on Oldtown.

Jaime rides desperately through fire and battle, while Jon fights enemies in the snow.Someone stumbles out of a boat (probably Theon, but we can always hope for Gendry!) Grey Worm and Missandei kiss (hurray!) as a White Walker clashes blades with a fur-clad figure.

Fire and blood, ice and snow, Drogon’s growling maw; there is clearly no turning back from this war.

The action slows to focus on a wavering circle of fighters, drawing together against unseen dangers. Bringing the Game of Thrones season 7 trailer full circle, it is Sansa who takes over the narration, echoing Ned Stark’s warning from so long ago.

“When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies,” she says. “But the pack survives.”

Sansa doesn’t sound happy about this. And as Jon stands alone, slaying one more enemy, it’s hard to tell just how much unity the Starks — and really, all of humanity — will be able to conjure up, even in the face of destruction.

But no matter how chilly the trailer, it will be nice and warm in the real world when Game of Thrones season 7 premieres in just under a month. War or no war, we are totally ready.

Game of Thrones season 7 premieres July 16 on HBO.
