Godzilla director Gareth Edwards will be filming Godzilla 2 after he completes working on his Star Wars movie.

Godzilla 2 is coming, but it will have to wait until after Gareth Edwards completes his Star Wars movie.

A short trailer debuted at Legendary’s Comic-Con panel. The trailer announced three monsters that will be in Godzilla 2: Ghidorah, Rodan, and Mothra.

The three monsters were revealed in a trailer that featured graphics depicting each of them. The trailer ended with an ominous message: “Let them fight.” This is of course the same thing that Ken Watanabe’s character said in this year’s Godzilla.

Ghidorah (King Ghidorah) is an armless, three-headed, two tailed dragon kaiju. It first faced Godzilla in the 1964 Godzilla film, Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster and has appeared in several films since then.

Rodan is a giant pteranodon kaiju. It first appeared in the 1956 film, Rodan and several Godzilla films since.

Mothra is perhaps the most exciting of all the announced monsters. Mothra is a giant kaiju that resembles a moth. It first debuted in the 1961 film Mothra and has appeared alongside Godzilla many times since.

It was announced in May that Gareth Edwards would be directing one of the Star Wars spinoff solo movies. This film will be released on December 16, 2016, almost one year after the release of the highly anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII that will see Harrison Ford Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill reprise their roles. Gary Whitta is currently writing that script.

After Edwards completes working on his Star Wars movie, Godzilla 2 will become his next project. This was announced at Comic-Con, but it doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Edwards is involved with two huge franchises now, and Legendary wouldn’t want to delay Godzilla 2 very long if they didn’t have to.

Godzilla was a success, and it has made almost $500 million on a $160 million budget, and it hasn’t even premiered in Japan yet.

What do you think of the monsters that will be in ‘Godzilla 2’?
