Bad news for those itching to experience J.J. Abrams’ next installment in the Cloverfield Universe, God Particle, because the film has been pushed back.

In October, we relayed news that God Particle would, indeed, take place in the same universe shared by Cloverfield and 10 Cloverfield Lane.

That’s still the case, but Variety is now reporting some major changes to both the release date and the title.

First off, the original release date for God Particle was February 24, 2017. That has now been pushed back to Oct. 27, 2017. That’s only an eight month delay, so it could be worse, but it’s still disappointing considering February is right around the corner at this point.

Variety is also reporting that God Particle is no longer the name of the film, but rather that it’s been renamed 2017 Cloverfield Movie. For those of you scratching your head, rest assured this is probably not the final title for the film.

Despite the fact that the Cloverfield movies are known for their minimal marketing campaigns and that the mystery surrounding these films is part of the allure, I think Abrams and his team recognize the importance of tying these films together by their titles.

God Particle, while intriguing on its own, doesn’t let anyone know that it’s related to the Cloverfield Universe like 10 Cloverfield Lane did. Considering Paramount Pictures wants to put out a new Cloverfield movie each year, they’re probably thinking ahead to how they can keep each of these titles easily recognizable for what they are.

The synopsis for 2017 Cloverfield Movie tells a story that “centers on a team of astronauts on a space station making a terrifying discovery that challenges all they know about the fabric of reality, as they desperately fight for their survival.”

Julius Onah is directing and the movie stars David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ziyi Zhang, Elizabeth Debicki, Daniel Brühl, and Chris O’Dowd. It began filming in June.

Are you excited to see the Cloverfield Universe continue expanding?
