GLOW will have one final turn in the ring before Netflix officially pulls the plug. Here’s everything we know about the fourth and final season!

The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling will take their final bow in GLOW season 4. We’re here to bring you all the news, release dates, and casting ahead of the show’s final season.

After Bash Howard Productions uplifted the entire crew from Los Angeles to Vegas for the third season, it seemed that Vegas would be the impetus for many of these characters to start something new and exciting. However, Vegas proved to be a giant pause button that left many of the characters stuck in a loop of questioning who they were and, more importantly, who they wanted to be.

The series did not suffer for the move, but pushed the impressive ensemble of over 15 leading actresses and actors to look inwards before they set their sights on what’s next. This led to heart-to-hearts, big career moves, sexual awakenings, alliances, broken trust, and a few health scares. Things are taking off for many of these characters–Sam, Justine, Debbie, Rhonda – but season 3 also saw some regression, namely from Ruth.

The series has never lacked heart and season 3 was no different. As Debbie came into her own, defining what about being a producer meant to her, to Bash brushing with a side of himself that he wants to keep closed off, to Carmen embracing her passion, to Rhonda finding her place in Bash’s life, and Sam and Justine coming together to live the impossible dream.

‘GLOW’ final season series announcement

The final season announcement was issued by Netflix, with the official Twitter account providing a moving video made from clips of the past three seasons. From Ruth’s moving speech about seeing these women learn to use their bodies to do something new, to Debbie’s proclamation, “I feel like a goddamn superhero,” there is no denying the incredible tribute to the power of women this show put on display year after year.

‘GLOW’ season 4 air date

In September, Netflix announced that GLOWl season 4 is confirmed and that it will be the series last on the streaming platform. The season will have aired 40 total episodes, should season 4 follow the same order as the prior seasons. Seasons have dropped on Netflix in the summer.

Co-creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch will return for GLOW season 4 as showrunners, writers, and executive producers, alongside executive producers Jenji Kohan, Tara Herrmann, and Mark Burley.

‘GLOW’ seasons 1-3 are currently available on Netflix.

‘GLOW’ season 4 news, comments and predictions

Heading into the third season Flahive and Mensch always knew they had more stories to tell and that writing against the uncertainty of a GLOW season 4, didn’t worry them too much. Flahive told THR early in 2019, “We have a full story to tell and whether or not we’re idiots for not giving ourselves an ending this season remains to be seen. We’ve played it this way every season, where we’ve sort of left it all on the field. This show has a big heart and a big cast and big story to tell.”

Luckily for them, a fourth season is on the books, but will it be enough time for them to take the story to its intended home? Truth be told the third season introduced more than a handful of plot points that would benefit from a season of exploration…each.

Take for instance Debbie in her new role as a television executive. Not only would she be able to make the push to put the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling on televisions nationwide, but she would be in charge of mapping out entire catalogues of programming. She earned her voice in the room by playing her silence to her advantage.

And what about Bash who drunkenly revealed to Debbie that he fears his sexuality is going to kill him. At the height of the AIDS crisis, having lost his best friend to the epidemic, and now coming to terms with a new side of himself, Bash is lost and afraid and burying himself in work and starting a family with Rhonda. But as he pushes Rhonda forward in life, he is only isolating her from a happy marriage, one where he admits, he knows he’ll stray.

Then there’s Ruth, who refuses to hear that maybe her time chasing acting jobs is a waste. That it’s time to settle down and look at directing, getting behind the camera. Much like Sam, who is now situated to see Justine’s passion project come to life, telling their story to the world. His eyes and her vision. Sam adopting Justine at the end of the season also leaves the door open for more stories from their ongoing film career.

And let’s not forget Sheila’s incredible transformation from She-Wolf to simply Sheila. While we might not see Bobby Barnes again (Nooooo!), Shelia’s journey through season 3 has been one of the highlights of the entire series.

The impression the end of season 3 left is this — a time jump is coming. There will be a giant leap forward, to Debbie in power, the ladies coming back to work, Bash and Rhonda possibly expecting their first child, Sam and Justine wrapping their film and waiting for the premiere, Ruth going out on acting jobs, possibly with or without Russell waiting at home. It’s a way to wrap up the loose ends and get these characters in a place for one final run on our devices.

‘GLOW’ season 4 cast

The GLOW season 4 cast will likely carry over plenty of the key players, especially after season 3’s valiant, and overall successful attempt to bring everyone into the fold. While names like Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, and Mark Maron seem very likely to hold onto top billing, here are the rest of the faces you can expect to see:

If Debbie’s plan truly goes into full affect in the season 4 opener, GLOW will likely need to add some new faces, while also losing a few familiar ones. Depending on when the show picks up, recurring characters from season 4 such as Geena Davis’ Sandy Devereaux St. Clair will likely not be a factor in the plot lines moving forward.

As for Debbie’s lover at the tail end of season 4, J.J. ‘Tex’ McCready played by Toby Huss, well, if a legal or corporate battle is raging for control of the company that Bash is going to buy, expect to see a scorned man return and ready to fight against Debbie.

We’re also not sure how Carmen will factor into the new storyline. When we left her, Carmen was ditching the squad in Vegas for Phoenix as she decided to take her brother Kurt up on his offer to join their traveling show as a true professional wrestler. Choreographing story, making changes every night, keeping an ongoing narrative alive, Carmen understands the heartbeat of what makes wrestling appealing to mass audiences. While the move may mean losing her skills for the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, maybe viewers will have the chance to check in with her as she creates something truly her own.
