Guardians of the Galaxy continues to gain some heavy talent as veteran actress Glenn Close joins the cast in a leadership role of Nova Corp, an intergalactic space patrol.

Six time Academy Award nominee Glenn Close will be joining Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy with what has become a massively talented cast including Zoe Saldana, along with actor Chris Pratt, who has been cast as the lead in Guardians of the Galaxy, Star-Lord, and WWE star Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer).

Michael Rooker, the massive fan-favorite of The Walking Dead series has also signed on to play Yondu in Marvel’s space-thriller. Rounding out the cast recently is Lee Pace, who will reportedly play the film’s villain. Deadline also notes that John C. Reilly has joined the cast, but we’ve yet hear of his involvement.

While specifics on Glenn Close’s character are slim as of now, her being cast in a major role for the film definitely gives the film a wider audience range than one would have imagined when Marvel initially announced that this was their “mystery movie.” Deadline reports that “Close’s role would be the closest thing to the one that Samuel L. Jackson plays in Marvel’s Avengers movie.”

Guardians of the Galaxy follows a futuristic, alien superhero team protecting the galaxy from evil, led by Peter Quill. The team first appeared in Marvel comics in 1969, but weren’t given their own series until the 1990s. Check out our latest news on Guardians of the Galaxy, as the film will hit theaters August 1, 2014.
