The final season of Glee is upon us! Check out our character profiles and recaps in preparation for Friday’s premiere.

It’s been a while since we last saw our favorite (and former) Glee Club members. In case you’ve forgotten where they left off, here’s a handy guide to help you out. Check out our Glee season 6 refresher below!

Artie Abrams

Memorable Moment: In season 4 we finally got to meet Artie’s mom (played by Katey Sagal, a memorable occasion on its own). It was refreshing to see the portrayal of a young person who isn’t desperate to leave home. More importantly though, it was a really touching moment between Artie and his mom, to see how appreciative he is of what she’s done for him and how much he cares about her.
Recap: Early on in season 5, Artie and Kitty broke up, just in time for Artie’s graduation from McKinley high school. Artie then moved to New York along with everyone else and started attending film school. He later began filming Mercedes’ tour.
Best Song: “Dream a Little Dream”

Becky Jackson

Memorable Moment: Becky has many fantastic one-liners, but the icing on the cake was definitely the reveal that her inner monologue is Queen Elizabeth II (aka Helen Mirren).
Recap: Upon returning from her suspension after the gun incident, Becky became Sue’s secretary (after Sue fires the other secretary), and she graduated from McKinley. Presumably she’ll continue to be Sue’s helper in terrorizing McKinley students.
Best Song: Poor Becky hasn’t had any songs.

Blaine Anderson

Memorable Moment: The moment many Starkids were waiting for, the moment non-Starkids realized what the fuss was about, was Blaine’s introduction in season 2. His performance of “Teenage Dream” won everybody over instantly, and if that wasn’t enough, later in the episode he stood up to Karofsky for Kurt. The show has never been the same since.
Recap: Blaine proposed to Kurt (who said ‘yes’ *shocker*), he graduated from McKinley, got accepted into Nyada, and moved in with Kurt. Despite lying to Kurt and getting in a fight, the lovebirds reconciled and ended the season on happy terms.
Best Song: “Somewhere Only We Know”

Brittany Pierce

Memorable Moment: It’s easy to laugh at the dumb things Brittany says, but when she told Glee Club she was leaving for MIT, we got to see another side of her. It was a bittersweet moment where she talked about how it hurt her that people called her stupid, and eventually she started believing them. But when she joined Glee Club, they made her feel special, they helped her feel good about herself and because of that, the world sees her better too.
Recap: Brittany miraculously graduated from McKinley, got back together with Santana, and will be travelling on Mercedes’ tour as the lead back-up dancer.
Best Song: “Celebrity Skin”

Burt Hummel

Memorable Moment: Viewers waited with bated breath when Kurt started to tell his dad that he’s gay. Burt said that he knew for a long time and to audiences’ utter relief, Burt said that it’s okay and he accepts Kurt for who he is. Burt hasn’t let Kurt down since.
Recap: Burt witnessed his future son-in-law’s proposal, he attended New Directions’ (losing) Nationals performance, and came to New York to see Kurt after he was beat up from protecting someone being ‘gay bashed.’ Altogether not the most cheerful of seasons for him.
Best Song: Kurt has yet to force his dad to sing a song with him.

Emma Pillsbury

Memorable Moment: After finding out Will was cheating on her, timid Emma took a stand and called him out in front of the entire staff room. It was equal parts funny, shocking, and awesome.
Recap: Emma was not very present in season 5. She held grief counselling sessions in “The Quarterback,” she got pregnant, and had a successful birth to a boy she and Will named Daniel Finn.
Best Song: “I Could Have Danced All Night”

Finn Hudson

Memorable Moment: It’s hard to pick the most memorable moment for Finn. He’s had many: good, bad, funny, sad, uplifting, heartbreaking. Perhaps his most memorable moment isn’t even his. What better way to show how wonderful someone is than by seeing what other people thought of him? “The Quarterback” demonstrated just how important Finn was to Glee Club and everyone involved. Everyone had their own moment to share what he meant to them, inspiring many viewers to reflect themselves, and remember all that was Finn Hudson.
Recap: The last we saw Finn he was reconciling with Will and about to help teach Glee Club, simultaneously earning a teaching degree. Of course, Glee Club was cancelled in season 5 but it looks like Rachel is going to do her best this season to bring it back. Finn would certainly admire her dedication, and if he were still here, he’d be right there beside her.
Best Song: “Not The End”

Kurt Hummel

Memorable Moment: Who could ever forget the moment Glee fans truly fell in love with Glee? “All the single ladies put your hands up!” That’s right, Kurt teaching the football boys the “Single Ladies” dance and performing it at the game was probably the funniest 5 minutes in Glee‘s history. And that was all the way back in season 1!
Recap: Kurt got engaged to on-again-off-again boyfriend Blaine. Despite this, Blaine and Kurt continued to fight throughout the season, but kissed and made up each time. When we left Kurt, he was still in New York, with plans of Blaine moving in with him.
Best Song: “For Good”

Mercedes Jones

Memorable Moment: Hallucinations aren’t uncommon in Glee, and one of the first was when Mercedes starved herself in an effort to lose weight and fit in the Cheerios uniform. A heartwarming moment between Mercedes and Quinn followed, but it was Mercedes’ hilarious hallucination of seeing her friends as food that’s really hard to forget.
Recap: Mercedes moved to New York to work on her album. She and Sam rekindled their relationship but she quickly put out the flame, saying that she didn’t want to hold him back while she’s away touring.
Best Song: “I Will Always Love You”

Mike Chang

Memorable Moment: Yet another mother-son moment came when Mike’s mom told him she supported his dreams, whatever they were, and she would help him talk to his dad about it. She then revealed that dancing might have always been in Mike’s future, as she too loved to dance, but she had given up on her dream because of her father. The two then sealed the moment with a waltz.
Recap: Not much to say about Mike. He popped up here and there last season to show off his sick dance moves, and presumably he is still attending Joffrey Ballet Academy of Dance in Chicago.
Best Song: “Cool”

Continued on page 2: Quinn, Rachel, Santana, and more

Noah “Puck” Puckerman

Memorable Moment: When Puck stood up for Glee Club by coming to school in a dress, he got harassed by the hockey guys and challenged the leader to a fight. Before things got too nasty, Beiste intervened and dragged Puck away. The two then shared a heart-to-heart, showing vulnerability that’s lovely to see on these ‘tough guys.’
Recap: Puck started dating Quinn, and he is currently enlisted in the Air Force.
Best Song: “Sweet Caroline”

Quinn Fabray

Memorable Moment: Quinn’s character development is one of the better storylines in Glee, and a turning point for her was when she blackmailed Sue into giving Glee Club a page in the yearbook. Initially she intended on making Sue put her back on the Cheerios, but realizing how much happier she is with the Glee Club, how much they accept her, she decides to side with them.
Recap: Quinn was quite absent last season. Her last appearance was in “New Directions” and it was revealed that she and Puck had started dating. While she didn’t go to New York to see Rachel’s Funny Girl performance, she sent flowers.
Best Song: “I Feel Pretty/Unpretty”

Rachel Berry

Memorable Moment: The first moment we met Rachel all we ever heard from her was how much she wanted to be on broadway and follow in the footsteps of Barbra Streisand. In season 5 she finally got her wish. The elation she exuded when she found out she got the part of Fanny Brice was felt by viewers too.
Recap: In season 5, Rachel got the part of Fanny Brice in Funny Girl, and she performed it to much praise and acclaim. She was then asked to be the lead in a new TV show. Despite five seasons worth of Rachel pursuing her dream of broadway, the season concluded with Rachel about to go to LA to shoot the pilot for this new show.
Best Song: “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now”

Sam Evans

Memorable Moment: Goofy Sam is great, and his impressions are hilarious, but it was the touching moment in “Rumours” that really stands out. Sam’s dad lost his job and his family was kicked out of their home. Rachel and Finn visited Sam at the motel he was staying in, and they gave him back his guitar he was forced to sell. It was a tender moment, showing Sam’s vulnerable side, especially since, as he said, it was the first time he ever cried.
Recap: After graduating from McKinley, Sam also moved to New York to pursue a modelling career. At one point he got together with Mercedes, but their relationship ended as quickly as it started. Sam then quit modelling and moved back to Lima where he was last seen wandering the halls of McKinley.
Best Song: “Heroes”

Santana Lopez

Memorable Moment: Santana had many heartfelt moments, but in the sake of levity, the moment in mind is her Yeast-I-Stat commercial. I don’t want yeast in my muffin either.
Recap: Santana started off the season by getting a girlfriend, Dani, ‘an actual lesbian.’ During this time, she became the Fanny Brice understudy in Funny Girl, making Rachel’s life miserable. She later broke up with Dani, got together with Brittany, and quit Funny Girl to run away with Brittany. The last we heard of Santana, she was shooting a Yeast-I-Stat commercial in Iowa, and will be joining Mercedes’ tour along with Brittany.
Best Song: “Valerie”

Shannon Beiste

Memorable Moment: Glee tackled the difficult subject matter of spousal abuse, both physical and emotional, with Shannon and her husband. It was difficult to watch Shannon decide whether to do what’s right or what’s easy. In the end though, it was wonderful to see her stand up for herself and leave her husband.
Recap: Shannon didn’t have a large role last season. In “The Quarterback” she comforted Puck, and she was last seen giving advice to Will and Emma about conceiving a baby.
Best Song: “Mean”

Sue Sylvester

Memorable Moment: Sue was never more like Sue than when she wanted to marry herself. And that tracksuit wedding dress is unforgettable. Although we wish it were.
Recap: The last we saw Sue, she begrudgingly went to New York and went to Rachel’s Funny Girl performance. She left early along with another guy, and hooked up with said guy before going back to Ohio.
Best Song: “Vogue”

Tina Cohen-Chang

Memorable Moment: Arguably Tina’s only big moment was when Glee went Carrie and Tina won prom queen, got slushied, but came back with a vengeance (no I don’t mean she went on a murderous rampage). This was her time to shine for once and she owned it.
Recap: Forever in the shadows, Tina graduated from McKinley and went to Brown University. She visited Rachel in New York to see her broadway debut, and it seems she has a penchant for falling for gay guys.
Best Song: “True Colors”

Will Schuester

Memorable Moment: We’ve heard countless speeches from Will over the seasons, but a standout was when Rachel was crushing on him in season 1. In true Will fashion, he handled the situation with kindness and compassion. He gently told her it was inappropriate but she should keep her head held high because someday there will be someone out there who will love her for who she is.
Recap: After losing Nationals, Glee Club was cancelled, and Sue got Will a job interview to be Vocal Adrenaline’s new coach. He didn’t accept and became McKinley’s history teacher instead. Will later went to New York to see Rachel in Funny Girl but had to leave early because Emma’s water broke. He made it in time for the birth and called Rachel to tell her that the baby’s fine and they named him Daniel Finn.
Best Song: “Over the Rainbow”
