After discussions of a potential “trimmed” season 6, it has been confirmed how many episodes Glee will have in its final season.

TVLine.com confirmed today that Glee season 6, its final season of the series, will be reduced to 13 episodes compared to its usual 22. As previously announced, Glee season 6 will return midseason along with several other Fox comedies, likely in January.

The Glee news has been trickling out in recent weeks, including a couple of faux announcements from cast members Chris Colfer and Lea Michele when their Twitter accounts were hacked.

Earlier this week we learned that despite being cut from the season 5 finale and rumors of conflict on set, Naya Rivera will be returning for Glee season 6 as well – albeit with a downgraded billing of “recurring guest star.”

Ryan Murphy recently noted that he is excited about the final season of Glee, saying that it will feel a lot like the beginning of the series:

“I’m sort of reinvigorated about it. It’s getting back to what I was initially interested in with the show, which was arts in school. The last season is really about the importance of arts education in our high schools… I think people will like it.”

Though most fans will be sad to hear of a shortened season, given the midseason premiere it would only make sense that the final season would have around 13 episodes (ending in May, per network TV standards).

What are you hoping to see as the once mega-hit show closes its curtains one final time in 2015?
