On Glee season 6, episode 7, titled “Transitioning,” Coach Bieste debuted the new and true version of himself transitioning from Shannon Bieste to Sheldon Bieste.

This episode opens with Will talking to Emma about coaching Vocal Adrenaline when Rachel and Blaine interrupt the conversation covered in eggs — because Vocal Adrenaline kept to the tradition of egging the competition. Will talks to Vocal Adrenaline about tolerance and sings Mackelmore’s “Same Love” with Unique! Vocal Adrenaline isn’t impressed and Will puts his foot down as the leader of the group.

Coach Bieste returns for the first time as a man: Sheldon Bieste. Sam and Sue welcome him back to McKinley as his true self. When he leaves for the day, he returns to his car only to find it covered in jock straps with “Coach Tranny” written on the top, all done by Clint and the folks of Vocal Adrenaline. Sue calls Will into her office to talk about it and break the news.

In the teacher’s lounge, Rachel is stressed out because her dads have finally sold the house in which she has been living. Sam gets Kurt, Mercedes, Kitty, Blaine and Artie together to help figure out what the plan could be to help her.

Kurt changes Rachel’s plan for the glee club (again) and it’s all about throwing a goodbye party for Rachel’s transitioning out of her home. They play a game of “Wheel of Musical Fortune.” Whoever the wheel lands on, the person spinning has to do a duet. Mercedes lands on Roderick. Kurt lands on Artie but gives an extra little nudge so that it lands on Blaine. Kurt’s all like “OMG can you believe it!?” but Blaine asks him to not mention it to Dave, who thinks there’s still something between them.

“Why don’t you just accept that none of us want you here?” asks Clint to Schuester. Will says the joke is on him and kicks him off of the team. Back home, Will admits to Emma that he doesn’t like his job because of the people or the environment. He also says that he loves all the fancy stuff that comes with the job and he feels shallow for that. Emma tells Will he should come to peace about whatever choice he makes.

At Rachel’s Childhood Home Party, Mercedes and Roderick duet on “All About That Bass.” During the performance, everyone is dancing around, when Rachel and Sam head up to her bedroom to check it out. Sam’s checking out Rachel’s photos on the wall (which look like stills from Glee), which include the golden shorts from the Rocky Horror Picture Show performances. They share a moment on her bed talking about the future before they start passionately making out.

Back downstairs, Kurt and Blaine sing “Somebody Loves You” by Betty Who. Blaine has to leave early because he and Dave have to get up early the next day. They talk about their duet before Blaine leans in and kisses Kurt. Blaine doesn’t really know what to do, so he just sort of leaves, but not before Sam and Rachel start their performance of “Time After Time” inside.

Unique catches up with Coach Bieste to chat about how everything is going. Bieste says he wishes he weren’t going through this alone, and Unique reminds him that he’s definitely not.

Dave and Blaine get back to their apartment and Blaine admits that he kissed Kurt. Dave recognized that he knew Blaine was still in love with Kurt and that he was glad he could get some time in with him. “Go. It’s okay. Go,” Dave says, imploring Blaine to go tell Kurt that he wants to be with him. Blaine runs to the choir room to talk to Kurt, but he finds him with Walter waiting for Rachel and Sam to go on a double date. Blaine is shocked and let down that he couldn’t confess his love for Kurt in this moment.

Will goes back to Vocal Adrenaline and tells Clint that he’s okay to be back on the team and that he is willing to win Nationals the Vocal Adrenaline way — starting with a prank on McKinley. The prank turns out to be KY jelly all over the stage so that they fall, but they’re interrupted by Unique singing “I Know Where I’ve Been” from the musical Hairspray, supported by hundreds of trans people, which is easily one of the most incredible performances on Glee this season. Will is inspired by the performance and quits Vocal Adrenaline. Back in the choir room, Kurt and Rachel ask Will what he’s going to do next, but he admits that he’s not quite sure. Rachel and Kurt invite him to be the special Alumni consultant and he agrees.
