Glee season 5 creator Ryan Murphy has unveiled the first promotional material for episode 3, which will be the Cory Monteith/Finn Hudson tribute.

The banner is black and white and says, “The hardest word to say is ‘goodbye.'” A picture of Cory from one of the early seasons is included alongside the air date of the episode, which is October 10 at 9 p.m. eastern/pacific on Fox.

We suspect that as we inch closer to October 10, more photos and video from the special episode will be released by the network.

Murphy spoke about their plans for the tribute episode in August. “We have decided that we’re not going to have him pass from [a drug overdose],” he said. “Basically, what we’re doing in the episode is we are not telling you yet, or maybe not at all, how that character died. The idea being, how somebody died is interesting and maybe morbid, but we say very early on in the episode, ‘This episode is about a celebration of that character’s life.’ That might be weird for some people, but it felt really exploitative to do it any other way.”

Glee season 5 premieres tonight with the first of two episodes paying tribute to The Beatles. You can see a list of songs and learn more about the episode in our previous story.
