When Demi Lovato joins Glee season 5 this fall, she will be a love interest to Naya Rivera’s Santana character.

Rivera confirmed the news on Sunday at the MTV Video Music Awards when she spoke to MTV about the forthcoming episodes.

While the actress didn’t have much to share about how their relationship will go, she did say that the two sing a Beatles song together when they first meet (during the Beatles tribute episodes).

Watch below. Rivera also discusses her new single, noting that she is “very excited” to let fans see her music outside of Glee, and Cory Monteith.

We told you previously that Lovato will be appearing on six episodes of Glee season 5, which suggests that the love between the two women won’t last for too long (unfortunately). We’re not sure if the singer will begin her Glee run on the first or second episode of the show.

We’re thrilled that an A-list star has decided to portray a gay character on the popular dramedy. The decision was a bold move by Ryan Murphy and company.

In addition to Glee, Lovato will be seen on the new season of The X Factor which also premieres this September. She will be on the two shows back-to-back, weekly.

Glee season 5 premieres Thursday, September 26 at 9 p.m. eastern/pacific on Fox.
