Look forward to three new female regulars on Glee season 5.

According to a report from TV Line, Glee producers are searching for three actresses “including African-American McKinley newbie Ruby, and twentysomethings Julie and Ryan. Interestingly, actresses auditioning for Ryan must be able to sing and play guitar. Potential portrayers of Julie just need to be cute and quirky.”

The news comes in the wake of Glee season 5 upping several season 4 newcomers to recurring roles, meaning they will take on more prominent positions this fall. Meanwhile, several longtime cast members including Heather Morris and Dianna Agron are not returning.

Actress Jane Lynch was asked last week what she thought about the shake up. She called it a “realistic” decision since characters have to move on with their lives.

Glee season 5 premieres September 19 on Fox. Shooting hasn’t started, but we know scripts are in development.

Actor Matthew Morrison recently chimed in on the debate over whether Kurt and Blaine should get married. He agreed with many fans who say they shouldn’t tie the knot.

We’ll keep an eye out for future Glee casting calls and share additional details when they surface. Although some have criticized Glee for its extensive line up of cast members, it’ll be nice to see some fresh faces when the show returns later this year. With several people not returning, perhaps show runners are trying to narrow down its line up of core characters.

Thanks, TV Line.
