The Glee and American Horror Story co-executive producer Brad Buecker is set to direct this upcoming musical!
Brian Yorkey, best known for the Pulitzer Prize winning musical Next to Normal, is currently working on a re-write of the script. Lionsgate-Summit will produce.
Deadline writes:
…The musical plays out in the style of a John Hughes movie about a contemporary teenage girl who finds herself trapped in the 1980s with her mother as her best friend.
The synopsis sounds like it could be a pretty hilarious musical! No word yet on casting or release dates, but we’ll keep you posted.
