In advance of this week’s Glee episode, “Lights Out,” Fox has released a sneak peek video of a very special Sue Sylvester solo number.

In the video, we see a preview of Sue’s plot line for the episode, including  snippets of her performance of “Little Girls,” from the Broadway musical Annie.

In the time since Sue lost her job, Roz Washington has taken over Sue’s position as head coach of the Cheerios. Sue seems to be having some mixed feelings about losing her girls – she seems very bitter and annoyed, but Jane Lynch claims that her character misses her students.

Jane explains the usage of the Annie number, performed by the character Miss Hannigan about the orphans in her care. After it was announced that Jane Lynch would be taking over the role of Miss Hannigan on Broadway this summer, Glee showrunner Ryan Murphy decided to showcase one of Jane’s upcoming Annie numbers in Glee, giving Glee fans the first look at Jane’s Miss Hannigan!

Becca Tobin, an Annie fangirl from way back, seems just as excited as us fans for this number – isn’t she adorable? Becca has spoken in the past about Annie being the musical that inspired her career path as a performer:

I loved watching movie musicals. Annie was a big one for me, and I was around four years old when I started to act out every scene in the movie. My mom realized that I needed to channel this energy and passion, so I started going to acting camp and dance classes.

What’s your opinion on Glee giving the cast the opportunity to sing their own iconic Broadway numbers within the context of the show? Would you like to see Rachel or Blaine do something from Spring Awakening or How To Succeed?

“Lights Out” airs Thursday, April 25 at 9pm Eastern.
