If you’re in need of a feel-good story check this out! Devin Keppel-Brown has been wheel chair bound since he was three, and the thing he wants most is Glee star Naya Rivera to go with him to prom.
Devin was only three years old when he got into a car accident after being hit by a drunk driver. His accident left him with a severe spinal injury which has left him paralyzed from the neck down. He is also dependent on a ventilator to keep him breathing. Devin doesn’t let his disability slow him down and continues to see the best in people.
We spoke with Devin’s mother Sian who told us a little about Devin:
“He has never felt sorry for himself and always has a smile. His outlook on life is amazing. Whatever he wants to do he does. Nothing stops him. School dances he is out there getting down. Always making kids laugh and is a class clown. He doesn’t let his disability stop him nor makes him settle for second best. I know I’m his mom but he truly is an inspiring kid.”
Why is Devin trying to reach out to Glee cast member Naya Rivera? Besides being a massive fan of the show and actress, he’s had a rough year. He’s attended four different high schools in just one year which hasn’t made making new friends easy. All of his friends from outside of his own school are attending their own proms and can’t come to his.
Speaking about the actress, Devin tells us:
“The reasons why I love Naya Rivera are she’s really an outstanding actress. I love her singing, I can’t stop listening to her songs. She’s very beautiful and can definitely dance. She seems like a really down to earth celebrity where she actually doesn’t mind helping out with other organizations that help people with disabilities. She has a great sense of humor and is really intelligent in my eyes. This is also on my bucket list so it would mean a lot.”
