Tracy Oliver, the writer behind the hit comedy Girls Trip, is teaming with Amy Poehler for a new comedy series on Amazon.

If you loved the comedy Girls Trip, then you’re definitely going to want to hear the news about a new comedy series heading to Amazon. The writer behind that film, Tracy Oliver is teaming up with Amy Poehler to bring a new, 10-episode, half-hour comedy series to the streaming service.

As Variety reports, the show will focus on the lives of four Black women who have been friends since their days in college at NYU. The series will focus on the women as they navigate sex and relationships and work to achieve their dreams.

Oliver will serve as the writer, creator, and executive producer on the show, while Poehler will executive produce alongside Dave Becky and Kim Lessing. According to Variety, the show will be produced by “Amazon Studios and Universal Television, in association with Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions.”

The Girls Trip writer explained her excitement over the new show to Variety, saying, “This series is a dream project for me. I found the perfect partners in Amy Poehler, Amazon Studios, and Universal, who have championed this project from the beginning. I can’t wait to get started and share the story of these four women navigating the complexities of adulthood through their unbreakable friendship.”

This series is the second big series get for Oliver. She’s also working with BET Streaming as the creator, showrunner, and director of the First Wives Club series adaptation. The First Wives Club series was initially set to air on TV Land, then moved to Paramount and ultimately landed with BET’s streaming service, BET Plus.

Oliver’s career is really heating up these days with her work on First Wives Club, the huge success behind Girls Trip, this new Amazon series, and she’s even working with Pharell writing and directing the music-themed horror flick Survive the Night. We are so excited that Oliver has so many projects in the work, and if the amazing way she portrayed female friendships in Girls Trip is any indication, her new Amazon series is going to be one you won’t want to miss.
