Girls returns tonight with a cameo that may derail a certain someone’s happily every after. Catch up with our full recap below!

Shine your tap shoes, folks, we’re heading to the great white way! Tonight’s season 3, episode 8, “Incidentals,” takes us back to the city where career changes for Hannah and Adam may start to churn the waters. Meanwhile, Marnie and Jessa have some soul searching to do after their current courses in life take a sudden turn.

Maturity Scale: Hannah’s advertising job tacks on more perks than the unlimited snack room. How about an interview with Patti LuPone for osteoporosis medication? Unfortunately for Patti, Hannah’s persistence to complete her interview pushes right through Patti’s publicist and ends at LuPone’s rehearsal in Joe’s Pub.

Hannah’s little break mingles with Adam’s even bigger opportunity. Interrupting her interview to offer an encouraging boost to Adam, Hannah is greeted with some unsolicited advice from Patti after she hangs up. Broadway is going to change Adam. Now, more than ever, Adam is going to need Hannah’s support, and more importantly, her forgiveness. Hannah should brace herself because Adam is about to become a cheating asshole. Jumping into a character that has intimate relationships with those around him is going to test his maturity and sexual control.

Dressing Windows: Back at GQ, Hannah rolls around Patti’s advice, but soon discovers yet another advantage her job provides: spending cash. Her first paycheck not only covers her rent, but allows her the ability to pop into a shop and treat herself to something that makes her feel good.

Hannah’s new dress and spunk in her step does not parallel Jessa’s miserable time across the city. Sobriety and a well structured life are not making her happy. Though viewers can tell by her montage of hanging the children mannequins with scarves, it takes a familiar friend from rehab to point it out to Jessa. Johnny, her accented pal, shows up, reminding her that she is a wild spirit not to meant to be tamed.

Meanwhile, Marnie runs into Soojin from the old gallery. Another free-spirit, Soojin boasts about opening her new gallery and what life is like playing adult. She has an architect and, gosh, the struggles of balancing expenses, am I right? She dodges Marnie’s attempt to sound superior and leaves her with an invitation to visit the space in NoHo.

Pizza and Commitment: Marnie and Ray are at the point in their fling where lines need to be drawn. Ray decides that he wants more than a casual fight and make up sex, while Marnie proclaims from her higher ground that she does not care about him or what they are doing.

Hannah’s new gig offers her a night at the Gramercy Hotel in exchange for a 16 point review of the experience. Not missing the opportunity to bring her friends together for a celebration, Adam, Elijah, Shosh, Marnie, and Jessa are among the invited. Two guests, however, throw the night into a tizzy.

Elijah and Shosh are smitten by Desi, especially because he had a role on One Tree Hill. Marnie shows up in the midst of this gathering and goes to sulk in the bathroom. Hannah assumes the blame for this is on her, but Marnie confides that she cannot tell Hannah what is wrong. Instead, she settles for a hug. (So… we are just sweeping the beach weekend under the rug?)

After some shmoozing and story-telling, Desi begins to play some Dylan on his guitar. Marnie and Elijah are won over by the smooth styling, yet Marnie is let down when she finds out Desi has a “clementine” making him dinner back home. Her confusion between Michelle Branch and Bob Dylan did not help her case anyway.

Crack Cocaine, Baby: To echo Hannah’s sentiments, maybe it was a bit premature to take Jessa out of rehab. After spending the day hyped up on cocaine, Jessa arrives with Johnny at the hotel in a whirlwind. Shosh finally finds someone who can keep up with her pace of conversation, but he assumes she is on cocaine as well. When the drugs run out, Jessa takes Johnny back to the shop she works in to steal some cash for more. Yup, rehab was definitely a place for Johnny to stay.

Elijah talks Adam’s ear off about the after show scene of Broadway, yet Adam does not think he will be joining in on the rituals. Elijah insists it is the only way to keep up with everyone and learn the ropes. Also, if Adam knows anyone, Elijah slips in a hint that he is looking to break free of the contemporary dance world.

In the bathtub, after the madness, Hannah confesses to Adam that she does not want to lose what they have to the theater world. Adam insists that nothing will change and Hannah seems to take comfort in the Adam she knows to be truly hers. A sampling of his lines from the play prove he is no joke, compared to the persona he gives off.
