Girls season 3, episode 4 “Deep Inside” airs tonight on HBO. A major shift arrives for two of the leading ladies, while personal revelations continue to redefine the way the characters see themselves.

Hannah’s birthday party creates quite a smash within the group. The party serves as a way for Marnie to recapture the control missing from her life since she and Charlie called it quits. Ray gains closure from Shoshanna when he approaches her outside of the party and tells her that he can no longer make any fake attempts to act nice around her. David, Hannah’s editor, becomes a bit out of control and starts a brawl with Ray back in the bar.
Adam and Hannah receive an unexpected visit from Adam’s sister, Caroline. A train wreck from the start, Hannah’s compassions get the best of her and the fallout of Caroline’s manic behavior spoils the couple’s domestic bliss quickly.

Hannah arrives at the publishing house for her ebook and discovers some unsettling news, as the staff runs frantically around the floor. Marnie continues to deal with her mediocre job working under Ray, while sorting through her mid-twenties crisis. Jessa reunites with an old friend, but their reunion reveals a darker history between the two. Still around this week, Caroline and Hannah have a bit of a sisterly chat revealing the minimal layers of Hannah’s emotions that may not be enough for Adam’s deeper needs.
