The book to film adaptation of Paula Hawkins’s excellent Girl on the Train may soon add Chris Evans and Jared Leto.

A great book calls for great actors, and Dreamworks appears to be serious about casting major stars for their adaptation. Variety reports that Evans (Captain America: Civil War) and Jared Leto (Suicide Squad) are currently in talks for two of the story’s lead male roles.

“If the deals go through, Evans would play [Rebecca] Ferguson’s husband and Leto would play [Hayley] Bennett’s husband,” says Variety, referring to the characters Anna and Megan respectively.

“Sources indicate negotiations are still ongoing, and that schedules and finances still have to be figured out,” the report cautions.

Emily Blunt is also signed onto the project to portray Rachel, the train commuter who is obsessed with a couple she observes from the train on a daily basis. One day she notices a certain change which kicks off an intriguing murder investigation. The story is told from the perspective of all three women.

As if Ferguson, Blunt, and Bennett weren’t enough of an impressive cast, Evans and Leto potentially joining the film would be a major score for the movie.

Assuming this adaptation is as good as the book, the movie could be a great move for Evans, who’s had a mixed bag of success outside of Marvel’s films. While he’s had big hits like last year’s Snowpiercer, he’s also struggled with many projects including his directorial debut Before We Go. The movie opened in limited release earlier this month and is currently sitting at a 25% average on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Girl on the Train hits theaters next year.
