Gina Rodriguez is heading to Disney+ for her next project.

According to Deadline, Jane The Virgin star Gina Rodriguez is officially gearing up to star in a recurring role on the new Disney+ series, Diary of a Female President.

Set to premiere exclusively via Disney’s highly anticipated forthcoming streaming platform, the new series focuses on a 12-year-old Cuban American girl named Elena and follows her journey through middle school.

Elena’s story doesn’t just stop there, though. Told through narration from her diary, Elena’s story also focuses on her journey to become the future president of the United States.

“Unabashed, semi-dweeby, ultra observant and with a strong point of view, she walks through the world with purpose and confidence,” reads the synopsis for the series.

Rodriguez will recur on the series as an adult version of Elena and delve into her plight on the campaign trail.

The CW vet joins previously announced newcomers Tess Romero and Charlie Bushnell. They’ll be playing the roles of young Elena and the future POTUS’ mischievous older brother Bobby, respectively.

In addition to her recurring role, Rodriguez will serve as an executive producer on the show alongside Emily Gipson, series creator Ilana Peña, and show runner Robin Schorr.

Producing aside, the Golden Globe winner will also serve as director on Diary of a Female President’s premiere episode.

Disney+ has ordered 10 episodes of Diary of a Female President, and the series is set to premiere via the streaming platform sometime next year.
