After months of miscommunication and he-said, she-said scenarios, Melissa McCarthy is officially confirmed to appear in the Gilmore Girls reunion on Netflix.

Ignore everything you’ve heard over the last few months and stop writing your “Where is Sookie St. James Now” fanfiction. Melissa McCarthy is heading back to Stars Hollow for a quick hello. Michael Ausiello, the trusted Gilmore whisperer, was the first to report the news of McCarthy’s confirmation. Then came this clip from Friday’s episode of Ellen, which appears to have been filmed Thursday afternoon:

My hilarious friend Melissa McCarthy had some amazing news for my audience.

McCarthy’s involvement seemed inevitable, but having confirmation is a nice comfort in the wake of the many, many other confirmed guest appearances. Filming in a public lot and having a cast extremely excited about seeing one another is leading to plenty of reunion photos and leaked tidbits. Regardless, there is still plenty of mystery surrounding the Gilmore Girls revival.

Is Hep Alien staging a reunion tour? Is Kirk managing? No one can ever say with any certainty what Kirk is doing, so anything is possible.

❤️ these guys. #GilmoreGirls friends. On screen and off.

Forget set reports, we want to hear your theories. How will Sookie jump back into the Stars Hollow mix? Will she arrive with trays of food? What are her kids up to? Is Rory teaching them? We still have plenty to look forward to in the coming months as filming continues.

The Gilmore Girls reunion is currently filming in Los Angeles. Coincidentally — or maybe not — Melissa McCarthy’s latest movie The Boss hits theaters this weekend. Go see it to thank her for coming back to Stars Hollow.
