This is it, the apocalypse is nigh at last. At least if you trust the gospel of Ghostbusters.

On February 14, 2016, the world is going to end.

And no, it’s not because you don’t have a date for Valentine’s Day. Buy chocolate in bulk and look up Zombieland on Netflix. You’ll be fine.

No, the apocalypse is nigh because Ghostbusters II has proclaimed it, way back in ye olde days of 1989, as written by the prophets of our modern age Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd.

Does it ring a bell? No? You might not remember this whole apocalypse prediction because, well, it’s Ghostbusters II.

So here’s the scene to refresh your memory:

In the scene, Dr. Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) has invited a woman named Elaine onto his talk show, The World of the Psychic.

The woman tells him the date of the end of the world: It’s February 14, 2016.

“Valentine’s Day. Bummer,” Venkman says, looking at the camera.

And if you want to get really dark with it: Were the Ghostbusters the four horsemen all along? (Wait, no, that’s the premise of our Supernatural crossover fanfic.)

We suppose anything beyond 2012 is a bonus at this point, but we’d much rather the world stuck around long enough to at least give us Paul Feig’s brand new Ghostbusters, premiering July 16.

If the Ghostbusters promotional team is smart, they’ll release the trailer on February 14! That’d be a nice little patch, in lieu of the apocalypse.
