A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin has announced an amazing new opportunity for fans of the series if they donate to a specific charity.

By donating $20,000 to the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary and The Food Depot in Santa Fe, New Mexico (the city where Martin lives), the author will name a Game of Thrones character after you in a future novel. There is one male and one female character available. “You can choose your character’s station in the world (lordling, knight, peasant, whore, lady, maester, septon, anything) and you will certainly meet a grisly death,” he says.

Additional high-level donation prizes include Martin’s hat, a breakfast with the author, and tickets to the Game of Thrones season 5 premiere.

If you don’t have that much money lying around to donate, Martin is happy to accept smaller amounts for less-exciting prizes. For $25 you’ll get a thank you e-card. For $50 you’ll get an exclusive campaign t-shirt. For $100 you’ll get a thank you video from Martin.

Here’s the best part: No matter what you donate, you’ll be entered to win a trip to meet the author in Santa Fe where you can ask him any Game of Thrones question you want. “You and a friend will be flown out (from wherever you are in the world) to meet me in Santa Fé, where we’ll share a helicopter ride to the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary,” he writes.

“In addition to touring the Sanctuary together, we’ll also have plenty of time to discuss the show, A Song of Ice and Fire, direwolves – and if there’s anything you have ever wanted to ask me, here’s your chance!”
