The Game of Thrones author wants us to know that the show’s finale won’t be the last time you see his world on screen.

In a blog post that began with Martin’s thoughts on Avengers: Endgame and ended with some political tidbits, the author commented on the multiple “successor shows” that could follow Game of Thrones.

He started the comment by cautioning fans to not “believe everything you read,” saying that “internet reports are notoriously unreliable.” He then confirmed that there are currently five shows set in the Game of Thrones world in development. Three of them are “still moving forward nicely,” although he didn’t mention the status of the other two.

He confirms one successor show will begin filming later this year. We previously reported that the show has cast Naomi Watts as “a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret” and Josh Whitehouse. The other two shows moving forward so far are still in the script stage.

Interestingly, he continues by saying, “what are they about? I cannot say. But maybe some of you should pick up a copy of Fire & Blood and come up with your own theories.” Fire & Blood is Martin’s history of the Targaryen house, so it looks like at least one of the shows will be about that family and their history.
