Fresh off Oscar nomination success, Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller has good news for fans.

Earlier this week, Mad Max fans were upset to learn that George Miller evidently wouldn’t be making more movies in the series, despite Fury Road‘s critical success and numerous nominations over the past award season.

He was quoted by The Daily News as very frankly saying, “I won’t make more Mad Max movies.” Pretty definite, surely.

But apparently not. Speaking to The Wrap, Miller clarifies, “That was a completely garbled interview. I was in New York and it was so noisy and the journalist was asking me questions on a red carpet at the National Board of Review. She completely got the wrong fragments of information that were just not true. I said no, [another Mad Max movie] will not be next, and she took that to mean I never wanted to make another Mad Max. It won’t necessarily be next, but I have two more stories.”

Two more stories! Whether or not everyone’s favorite character Furiosa (Charlize Theron) will appear remains to be seen, but we can only cross our remaining limbs and hope for the best.

Mad Max: Fury Road wasn’t just a commercial success; yesterday, the action epic picked up a stunning 10 major nominations for the Academy Awards. George Miller was nominated for Best Director, and the movie itself is vying for the Best Feature title opposite The Big Short, Bridge of Spies, Brooklyn, The Martian, The Revenant, Room, and Spotlight.

Even if Fury Road doesn’t win, this is still a major success, both for the franchise and for the action movie genre as a whole. The Best Picture nominees are very diverse in genre and tone, and it’ll be exciting to see which movie emerges victorious on February 28.
