The next TRON film has yet to gain an official title, but it has now been confirmed that Garrett Hedlund will star in the sequel.

Our friends over at NextMovie confirmed exclusively that Hedlund would again be playing Sam Flynn, his character from TRON: Legacy which hit theaters back in 2010. We’ve long awaited to hear about a sequel to TRON and just last week the film gained a screen-writer. According to sources, filming will begin in 2014.

Garrett Heldund went on to say, “Yeah,” when NextMovie asked him if he would be involved in the TRON sequel while he was in New York doing press for his next film On the Road, which also stars Kristen Stewart. He followed up with, “Are we gonna break this now?”

Heldund says that “Disney’s very excited,” and went on to say, “That’s about that. You know, yeah, I’m very excited, Disney’s very excited.”

The writer who helmed Eragon, Jesse Wigutow, was recently announced by Disney as being in negotiations to write the film. According to THR, Wigutow could be doing a few films for Disney, as he’s also in talks to work on an adaptation of Peter and the Starcatchers for them as well.

TRON: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski will be back to direct Tron 3.
