In the stunning clarity we can expect from Quantic Dream studios, the developers of the PS3 hit Heavy Rain, the first officially released gameplay footage of the supernatural real-time-action game Beyond: Two Souls, starring Ellen Page, has surfaced.

Three videos have been released, with the last two featuring the voice acting expertise of Juno actress Ellen Page.

The first video shows how players will be able to take control of Page’s character Jodie’s supernatural entity/friend Aiden. The scene takes place when Jodie is eight years old, and is being tested in a facility to discover the breadth of her psychic abilities.

After guessing successfully what card someone is holding up in an adjacent room, Jodie’s other half begins to run rampant upon the testing facility. She loses control of Aiden, as he begins to frighten and torture the woman in the room by throwing large objects and locking the door. The video ends as Aiden possesses one of the lab technicians observing the test.

In the second gameplay video, the player takes control of a now 20-something Jodie, who bears a strong resemblance to Ellen Page. This scene shows how Jodie was trained to be a CIA agent, with her parrying blows in a workout room, and eventually taking over her pretend attacker before he is able to point a prop gun at her.

The last video released, and perhaps the most impressive out of today’s bunch, is the scene that shows Ellen Page’s character escape from a burning hospital. She uses her out-of-body friend Aiden to guide her through a safe path, offering help by means of breaking glass and tossing her a fire extinguisher.

Warning: contains slightly disturbing content, and a jump-out scare a 1:25.

Beyond: Two Souls is due out for the PlayStation 3 this October.
