Two new clips from the Game of Thrones season 2 DVD box set have been released, which show the creation of the Battle of Blackwater and a roundtable discussion with the actors and writers.

The Wall Street Journal has posted this behind-the-scenes look at the Battle of Blackwater Bay:

We see a pre-visualization of the big battle, and Jack Gleeson (Joffrey) explains what filming the episode was like.

The Hero Complex has also released a featurette video, which can be found on the season 2 DVD/Blu-ray (released February 19).

In the clip, executive producer David Benioff asks the gathered cast members Emilia Clarke (Daenerys), Kit Harington (Jon), Lena Headey (Cersei), Michelle Fairley (Catelyn) and Liam Cunningham (Davos) who wears the crown in Westeros.

All the actors of course side with their characters – Cunningham says Stannis, Headey says Joffrey, and Clarke takes Dany in defense, saying, “Obviously it’s Dany, but technically at the time for you guys, I suppose it’s Stannis. But it’s not really, because you’re just usurpers, all of you.”

D.B. Weiss asks Fairley whether she thinks Robb would like to sit on the Iron Throne, and the actress talks about working with Richard Madden (Robb), seeing the natural progression of, “a young man taking on the mantle of authority. And the more he becomes used to it, the more confident he becomes, and the more he wants to be king.”

Of course right now it’s Joffrey who rules Westeros. But we’ll have to wait and see if the power shifts in season 3!

Game of Thrones returns March 31 for its third season, which will span the first half of George R.R. Martin’s A Storm of Swords.
