Check out a new Game of Thrones set video, in which propmaster Gordon Fitzgerald introduces some of the key props of season 3.

The video was posted on Making Game of Thrones, and includes some great new glimpses of scenes from the upcoming season:

Making Game of Thrones: Down to the Smallest Detail

Just from Fitzgerald’s explanation of making the books alone, you get a great sense of just how much excruciating detail is poured into creating such an expansive universe from scratch.

We also get to see a scene snippet featuring one of these books, in which Tyrion Lannister explains to his sister Cersei that he’s saved the crown a lot of money as the Hand of the King (a responsibility that, at the end of season 2, was passed on to their father Tywin).

Fitzgerald goes on to explain how the dragon cage was constructed, and he reveals that, while it looks convincing, “It’s actually not realistic at all.”

Game of Thrones returns March 31 with the premiere episode of season 3, titled “Valar Dohaeris.” It’ll see the characters try to deal with the aftermath of the end of season 2, in which Jon was captured by the wildlings, Dany left Qarth with her three dragons (but sans handmaidens), and Tyrion was left scarred and powerless after the battle of Blackwater Bay. We can’t wait to see what’s next for them, and all of the other characters in the series!
