Marvel has found their Iron Fist in Finn Jones, who Game of Thrones fans will recognize as Loras Tyrell.

Update (March 17): Marvel has confirmed Finn Jones will play Iron Fist:

“Danny Rand is a very complicated character. He’s a billionaire New York Buddhist monk martial arts superhero who’s still trying to figure out what exactly that all means,” said Executive Producer and showrunner, Scott Buck. “Finn is able to play all these levels in such an honest, revelatory way that as soon as I saw him I knew he was our Danny.”

“Finn wonderfully blends confidence with vulnerability, making him the perfect choice as he struggles to find his place in the world,” said Executive Producer/Head of Marvel TV, Jeph Loeb. “Now that we’ve found our Danny Rand, we’ve completed our principal cast for the upcoming Defenders on Netflix and we are thrilled to continue to show audiences unexplored corners of the Marvel Universe.”

They also shared this clever teaser image:

Original story (February 25): In the Marvel comics, Iron Fist is the alias of Danny Rand, a skilled martial artist who trained with mystical masters in K’un-Lun. As Iron Fist, Danny is able to channel his chi into his hand, giving him superhuman strength. Interestingly, Danny also partners with Luke Cage for a time, and the two create the organisation Heroes for Hire. Could we see Danny’s first appearance in Luke Cage, when the series makes its Netflix debut? With Misty Knight, a character romantically linked to Iron First, also appearing, the odds could be in favor of that being the case.

Iron Fist is the fourth and final series from Marvel and Netflix before Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist team up in a Defenders Netflix series. As viewers know, each of them has received their own shows on the streaming site ahead of the four-way series.

Netflix’s Marvel series have been a hit so far, and more seasons for each of these characters are coming steadily. Daredevil season 2 — which was the first Marvel series for the streaming site — will debut March 18, 2016 with Jon Bernthal as Punisher. Last month, Netflix renewed Jessica Jones for a second season after it received critical acclaim, and their Luke Cage series will debut sometime in 2016.

A release date for Iron Fist is currently unknown, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see it debut sometime in 2017.
