The Game of Thrones season 8 directors have been announced, with familiar names in the mix.

According to Entertainment Weekly, at least one episode of Game of Thrones season 8 will be guided by the capable hands of Miguel Sapochnik.

Sapochnik made fans and critics jaws drop with the final two episodes of season 6, “The Battle of the Bastards” and “The Winds of Winter.” The director was also awarded with an Emmy for his work.

Sapochnik’s fellow Game of Thrones Emmy winner David Nutter also returns to the Game of Thrones season 8 directorial slate later in the season. Nutter’s episode (or episodes) have not yet been released, but given his most famous work on the show — season 3’s “The Rains of Castamere,” a.k.a the Red Wedding — perhaps fans should hope for less, rather than more.

The final names revealed for Game of Thrones season 8 are none other than showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, who will direct the show’s hotly-anticipated finale. Benioff and Weiss have each directly episodes separately before, but seem to be pooling their efforts for The Big One.

With only six extended episodes in Game of Thrones season 8, it’s possible that Miguel Sapochnik, David Nutter, and Benioff and Weiss will each take tackle two of the final installments. (HBO remains mum on the subject, however.)

If not, the possibility remains for at least one more director to make their mark on Game of Thrones season 8. Who knows — maybe the epic fantasy series will even break it’s own streak, and hire a woman for the first time since season 4.
